Position Summary
The Aircraft Maintenance Technician (Sheet Metal) in a Part 145 Environment plays a critical role in maintaining and repairing aircraft components and structures. This position involves fabricating, assembling, installing, and repairing various sheet metal parts used in aircraft construction and maintenance. The Sheet Metal Worker ensures compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and the Part 145 guidelines.

The employee must be able to work in both a heavy maintenance environment and in upscale customer areas. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate with occasional high volume when aircrafts arrive/depart. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. Occasional fuel fumes may permeate the workplace. Employee must be willing and able to work in all types of weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The Hangar environment may be extreme hot and cold during certain seasons of the year.

Position Summary
The Aircraft Maintenance Technician (Sheet Metal) in a Part 145 Environment plays a critical role in maintaining and repairing aircraft components and structures. This position involves fabricating, assembling, installing, and repairing various sheet metal parts used in aircraft construction and maintenance. The Sheet Metal Worker ensures compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and the Part 145 guidelines.
Main Responsibilities
Sheet Metal Fabrication and Repair:
- Fabricate, shape, and form sheet metal components according to engineering drawings, specifications, and aircraft requirements.
- Repair damaged sheet metal components by cutting, welding, bending, or replacing sections as needed.
Structural Maintenance and Inspection:
- Inspect, assess, and evaluate the structural integrity of sheet metal components, identifying signs of wear, damage, or corrosion.
- Conduct non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques to detect hidden defects in metal structures (as endorsed)
Installation and Assembly:
- Install sheet metal components, including panels, bulkheads, ribs, and other structural parts, ensuring proper fit, alignment, and integration with other aircraft components.
- Collaborate with other technicians to assemble and integrate sheet metal components into the aircraft structure.
Maintenance Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of all sheet metal work performed, including repairs, modifications, inspections, and installations, ensuring compliance with Part 145 regulations.
- Complete necessary paperwork, logbooks, and digital records related to each task and provide detailed information for tracking and future reference.
Compliance and Safety:
- Adhere to Part 145 regulations, company policies, safety procedures, and industry best practices while performing sheet metal work.
- Ensure compliance with quality standards and participate in internal and external audits.
Tool and Equipment Management:
- Properly use and maintain various hand and power tools, equipment, and machinery used for sheet metal fabrication and repair.
- Report any malfunctioning equipment and request repairs or replacements to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
Communication and Team Collaboration:
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and other departments to coordinate work tasks, share information, and provide status updates on projects.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure timely completion of assigned tasks and projects.
- Represent Jet Aviation as one company internally and externally with industry groups, regulatory bodies, and the General Dynamics network.
Other duties as may be directed from time-to-time to support operational and business success.
Minimum Requirements
- Relevant certification and experience related to sheet metal work.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints.
- Strong knowledge of sheet metal materials, tools, and fabrication techniques.
- Ability to use measuring instruments accurately.
- Good understanding of safety protocols and procedures in an aircraft maintenance environment.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to work flexible schedules and in various weather conditions as well as meeting minimum physical requirements of the job.
