About This Position

Description:

The Dental Laboratory Technician is a skilled technical team member employed as a W-2 employee responsible for fabricating, designing, finishing, and repairing dental prosthetics and appliances in accordance with provider prescriptions, quality standards, and laboratory protocols. This role may include responsibilities in one or more specialty areas such as ceramics, CAD/CAM design, removable prosthetics, dentures, or general laboratory production, depending on experience, training, and business needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Fabricate, design, finish, and repair dental prosthetics and appliances, which may include crowns, bridges, veneers, implant restorations, dentures, partials, and other dental devices
  • Perform duties within assigned specialty areas, such as ceramic layering and staining, CAD/CAM design and milling, removable prosthetics, or general laboratory production
  • Interpret and follow written prescriptions, digital scans, and instructions provided by dentists and clinicians
  • Collaborate with dentists, clinical teams, and laboratory staff to ensure accuracy, function, and esthetics of restorations
  • Operate laboratory equipment, tools, and software in accordance with training and safety guidelines
  • Maintain consistent quality control standards, including fit, function, shade matching, and esthetics as applicable
  • Meet production timelines and workflow deadlines while maintaining high-quality craftsmanship
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe workstations in accordance with laboratory and OSHA standards
  • Document case progress and communicate case status as required
  • Participate in training, continuing education, and process improvement initiatives as assigned
  • Adhere to all HIPAA, privacy, and confidentiality requirements related to patient information
Requirements:

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Formal dental laboratory training, certification, or relevant hands-on experience preferred
  • Certified Dental Technician (CDT) credential preferred but not required
  • Experience in one or more dental laboratory disciplines, such as ceramics, CAD/CAM design, removable prosthetics, dentures, or general lab fabrication preferred
  • Familiarity with dental materials, equipment, and laboratory workflows
  • Strong attention to detail, craftsmanship, and esthetic outcomes
  • Professional conduct and ability to work collaboratively within a team environment

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Technical aptitude and manual dexterity
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and meet production deadlines
  • Problem-solving skills and attention to quality control
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively depending on case requirements
  • Proficiency with laboratory software, digital scanners, or CAD/CAM systems preferred but not required

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
  • Manual dexterity for fine-detail laboratory work
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Visual acuity sufficient for detailed technical and esthetic work

  • Must comply with all applicable Florida laws, rules, and professional standards governing dental laboratory operations
  • Must follow all Engle Group and affiliated laboratory policies, procedures, and quality standards
  • Must maintain confidentiality of all patient and provider information
