About This Position
This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Director, Data Science & AI in the United States.
As a pivotal leader in our delivery organization, you will oversee multiple high-performing teams to drive large-scale Azure programs that integrate applications, platforms, and data. You will bridge the gap between complex business objectives and modern cloud architecture, serving as an organization-wide technical authority who turns innovative patterns into reusable models. In this high-impact role, you will champion automation and AI-assisted engineering practices while mentoring the next generation of Senior Architects. You will operate in a collaborative, fast-paced environment where experimentation is encouraged and candid feedback is the cornerstone of our collective growth. By setting the technical direction and fostering an inclusive culture, you will ensure our clients receive transformative solutions that redefine their digital landscape.
Strategic Technical Leadership: Lead the architecture and technical strategy for expansive Azure portfolios, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, and cost-effective. You will define modernization blueprints and reference architectures across data and platform domains while translating product strategies into actionable execution roadmaps.
People & Team Development: Manage and grow multiple teams and managers by providing regular coaching, setting clear performance expectations, and facilitating career development plans. You are responsible for monitoring team health, balancing workloads, and fostering a culture of psychological safety and inclusion.
Delivery & Consulting Excellence: Act as a senior advisor in executive-level conversations regarding AI adoption and cloud modernization. You will lead structured discovery sessions, resolve high-impact technical trade-offs, and establish governance frameworks that ensure predictable, high-quality delivery across global time zones.
Innovation & Practice Growth: Identify and pursue growth opportunities within client accounts, partnering with sales and practice leaders to shape strategic pursuits. You will drive the adoption of AI-assisted tools (like GitHub Copilot) and develop reusable assets such as landing zone templates and modernization playbooks to reduce cycle times.
Architectural Oversight: Provide hands-on guidance during delivery through design reviews and forums, ensuring that non-functional requirements like observability and resilience are prioritized. You will mentor senior engineers in "systems thinking" to maintain alignment across cohesive end-to-end architectures.
Extensive Professional Experience: At least 12 years of experience delivering enterprise-scale solutions in application development, DevOps, or data engineering, complemented by 7+ years in solution architecture and leading multi-workstream programs.
Specialized AI & Data Expertise: Significant background in Data Science and Machine Learning, including 3–5 years in practice leadership. You must possess deep expertise in MLOps, Azure ML, Databricks, Spark, and Generative AI frameworks (e.g., RAG pipelines, Semantic Kernel).
Cloud Architecture Mastery: Proven success in leading Azure-based transformations and defining architectures that connect business strategy with scalable design. Relevant certifications (Azure Solutions Architect, Databricks, or AI Engineer) are highly preferred.
Agile & Consulting Skills: Strong proficiency in operating within Agile/Scrum environments at scale and a track record of success in professional services or consulting, specifically in client-facing executive engagement.
Modern Tooling & Methodology: High proficiency with modern development tools (GitHub, CI/CD) and experience integrating AI-augmented practices into the software development lifecycle to accelerate code, test, and documentation.
Soft Skills & Leadership: Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and storytelling abilities to communicate complex strategies to non-technical stakeholders. You must be a committed lifelong learner capable of fostering a community of continuous improvement.
Competitive Compensation: Base salary range of $168,400 – $252,600 USD, plus eligibility for annual discretionary or utilization bonuses.
Flexible Work Environment: Virtual-first approach allowing for a flexible work location within the United States.
Financial Security: 401(k) plan with a company match of up to 50% on your 6% contributions.
Comprehensive Healthcare: Two medical plan options, plus dental and vision coverage, and employer-paid life and disability insurance.
Time Off: Generous PTO (minimum 15 days), 9 paid company holidays, and 2 floating personal days.
Family Support: Paid leave for both birth and non-birth parents, plus Healthcare and Dependent Care FSA/HSA options.
Perks & Support: Monthly $67.00 tech and home office allowance and access to an Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
