Position Overview

The Summer Student will support the marine maintenance team by analyzing work order delays, tracking parts and vendor status, monitoring vessel availability, and helping improve data quality during the transition from iMaint to MaintainX. This role requires strong attention to detail, comfort with repetitive data tasks, and the ability to provide clear weekly insights that support maintenance planning and decision‑making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze maintenance backlog to identify overdue work orders and document delay reasons (parts, vessel availability, staffing, vendor delays).
  • Track parts requirements, vendor ETAs, shipping delays, and deliveries; maintain weekly lists of impacted work orders.
  • Monitor vessel schedules to identify maintenance constraints and support realistic planning.
  • Track vendor and staffing limitations affecting work order completion.
  • Prepare weekly KPI summaries including backlog status, aging, delay reasons, and top priority issues.
  • Assist with data cleanup and validation for the iMaint‑to‑MaintainX transition (assets, parts, inventory, equipment attributes).
  • Recommend improvements to work order processes, delay coding, and maintenance documentation standards.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Currently enrolled in a post‑secondary program (engineering, technology, business, supply chain, or a related field).
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, especially during repetitive data entry tasks.
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Comfortable working with digital tools and datasets; experience with maintenance systems or Microsoft 365 is an asset.
  • Strong analytical abilities and willingness to investigate and document root causes of delays.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with supervisors, planners, and technicians.
  • Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently and follow established processes.
