The Business Development Manager, Coatings & Lubricants, will drive growth and expand market presence in key industrial sectors. This role blends technical knowledge with commercial acumen to identify new business opportunities, strengthen distributor relationships, and execute strategic initiatives. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to support product positioning, marketing plans, and technical education while maintaining a high standard of customer service. With responsibility for managing pipelines, analyzing market trends, and overseeing regional account development, this position offers significant impact and visibility in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment. The role includes regular travel across the Midwest and East Coast, providing opportunities to engage directly with distributors, OEMs, and key stakeholders. Success in this role requires a proactive, self-directed approach, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work independently while achieving measurable results.

Accountabilities
  • Identify, develop, and secure new business opportunities among industrial distributors and key accounts.
  • Strengthen relationships with existing distributors and customers to grow market share and long-term partnerships.
  • Collaborate with internal technical, marketing, and operations teams to develop and execute sales and marketing plans.
  • Support distributors with go-to-market planning, product positioning, and marketing collateral.
  • Manage sales pipelines and activity tracking in Salesforce CRM; generate accurate performance reports and dashboards.
  • Analyze market performance, competitor activity, and historical campaigns to inform strategic initiatives.
  • Deliver product and application training to enhance distributor and sales team technical competency.
  • Partner with R&D and marketing teams to support new product development and commercialization activities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business discipline; advanced education or equivalent experience is a plus.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in business development or technical sales within coatings and/or lubricants.
  • Experience working with OEMs, distributors, and industrial markets is highly preferred.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with a proven track record of identifying, developing, and closing new business opportunities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and negotiation skills, with the ability to build relationships across organizational levels.
  • Proficient in Salesforce CRM and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to translate market data into actionable strategies.
  • Self-motivated, highly organized, and comfortable working in a remote, autonomous environment.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 30% annually across the Midwest and East Coast.
  • Multilingual skills and technical knowledge in coatings or lubricants applications are advantageous.
