Position Summary
This role provides innovative, trauma informed mental health services to youth in detention centers, schools, and office based settings. The Youth Mental Health Specialist leads engaging group based interventions, supports youth with emotional and behavioral needs, and delivers mental health and de escalation trainings to correctional officers and school staff. This position requires creativity, strong facilitation skills, foundational knowledge of psychology, and lived experience that supports authentic connection and trust with youth.
Key Responsibilities
Facilitate innovative, evidence informed mental health groups for youth
Provide case management and care coordination as needed
Engage youth using creative, strengths based, trauma informed approaches
Deliver mental health and de escalation trainings to correctional officers and staff
Collaborate with schools, detention staff, clinicians, and community partners
Maintain timely documentation and ensure program compliance
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field, or a minimum of two years of experience facilitating youth groups
Strong group facilitation and presentation skills
Experience working with youth in detention, school, or community based settings
Knowledge of adolescent development, trauma, and behavioral health
Lived experience navigating systems related to juvenile justice involvement, mental health, or similar challenges
Creative, adaptable, and confident engaging diverse youth populations
The pay range for this role is:
20 - 25 USD per hour(8350 Archibald Avenue)
