About This Position

Position Summary

Serving on the Marketing/Communications Team, the Creative Graphic Design Manager is responsible for ensuring brand compliance and managing and executing the visual and technical elements of Girl Scouts marketing and communications operations. This person must be able to conceptualize compelling visuals to support the Girl Scout brand across various digital and print mediums, have strong project management skills, have a collaborative spirit, be able to communicate with clarity, and place heavy attention to detail.

Reports to: Creative DirectorFLSA Status: Regular full-time, exempt Essential Functions
  • Support the regional brand’s visibility and reputation through compelling designs.
    1. Execute brand adherence - monitor proper branding implementation and maintain brand visual standards outlined by GSUSA (colors, logo, fonts, etc.) across all assets ensuring consistency.
    2. Keep current - remain updated with design and marketing trends, new technologies and design innovations that can enhance the quality of deliverables while remaining true to the brand’s standards.
    3. Be an expert resource on GSUSA brand guidelines and Marcom materials. Participate in GSUSA webinars and proactively leverage available resources.
    4. Conceptualize and design - translate briefs into visual concepts, creating illustrations, layouts, and graphics for campaigns, website pages, social media, presentations, merchandise, and print materials.
    5. Report trademark, copyright, and IP infringement to GSUSA legal as identified and appropriate.
  • Approach deliverables and large-scale project as a project manager – being organized, communicative and deadline driven.
    1. Provide high quality deliverables by assigned deadlines. Communicate with the appropriate staff member when an extension or alternative solution is necessary.
    2. Manage multiple projects at once, being able to keep up in a fast-paced work environment.
    3. Organize tasks by priority and ensure that all files are clearly labeled and uploaded to the appropriate server/folder.
    4. Review, assign, resolve, and maintain the status of projects through the council’s Freshdesk ticket system/project queue.
  • Execute design and print operations.
    1. Hold the creation of layout, sizing, revisions, and edits for print and digital ads which include but are not limited to flyers, brochures, patches, presentations, magazines, manuals, catalogs, emails, social media graphics, merchandise, signage/posters/banners, direct mail pieces, and props. Approx. 40-60 new projects each month.
    2. Review and assign print projects for the most efficient production. Oversee business services’ in-house support. Work closely with vendors to prepare printing specifications, obtain bids, and contract large projects.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • 5+ years of creative experience, including relevant design experience, with a B. A. in related field. Must include a portfolio and/or functioning examples of work that demonstrate graphic design, web, and email skills.
  • Adaptable to specific brand and editorial guidelines. Experience with regional or higher brand management responsibilities, including training, reviewing work, and advising others to maintain standards.
  • Highly proficient/fluent in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) in a PC and Mac environment.
  • Proficient with data management and email systems, preferably Salesforce and Marketing Cloud. Willingness to quickly learn a new system if needed.
  • Experience with project management systems, preferably Freshdesk.
  • Social media experience - a firm grasp of available tools and platforms in the social media space, with experience designing for and utilizing said channels in a business setting.
  • Comfortable managing a project from brief to concept to polished deliverable.
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner, both verbally and in writing.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Must be full vaccinated against COVID-19

Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong grammar skills and proofing ability.
  • Bilingual-Spanish a plus.
  • Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, the Girl Scout program. Enthusiasm for the mission of GSACPC and the community we serve.

Physical Abilities
  • Able to lift 25+ lbs., sit at a computer for three consecutive hours, stand for 2+ hours/day, climb stairs daily.
  • Able to work evenings and weekends, when necessary.
  • Valid AZ driver’s license.
