ARCHITECT / PROJECT MANAGER - RETAIL + PROTOTYPE at Helt Design – Belmont, North Carolina

HELT Design Architecture & Interiors is seeking a hands-on Project Architect / Project Manager with retail and prototype experience. This role blends strong documentation, management and client engagement. You’ll lead key national clients and their multisite programs while producing drawings, coordinating consultants, and ensuring brand and technical consistency across each project. You will work closely with senior leadership to refine delivery strategies, support client relationships, and help strengthen studio culture as we grow. While this role centers on national retail and prototype work, there will be opportunities to contribute to a diverse range of projects including mixed-use, hospitality, workplace, civic, and community-driven environments.

ROLE SUMMARY
You are a hands-on project architect and manager. You can both produce drawings and lead delivery — balancing coordination, documentation, and client interaction across multiple fast-paced retail and prototype projects.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
Design & Documentation
• Develop drawings from concept through construction documents
• Lead CAD and or Revit production and maintain model accuracy + standards
• Create details, redlines, technical diagrams, and permit-ready drawing sets

Project Management
• Manage project schedules, milestones, and deliverables
• Coordinate with civil, MEP, structural, and branding partners
• Maintain consistent client communication + expectations

Technical + Delivery
• Conduct zoning research, code review, and life-safety studies
• Support permitting strategy and respond to agency comments
• Support CA (RFIs, submittals, site visits)

WHAT YOU BRING
• 4–7 years architectural experience, ideally in retail or prototype work
• Strong CAD and Revit production skills — able to produce full drawing sets
• Experience coordinating consultants + project timelines
• Comfortable managing multiple fast-moving projects
• Clear communicator, detail-driven, organization-minded
• Licensure or path to licensure preferred
