About This Position

Donations Acquisition & Community Engagement Coordinator

Position summary:
The Donations Acquisition & Community Engagement Coordinator (DA&CEC) is responsible for Goodwill's mission and is deeply integrated and recognized within the community by driving community engagement, philanthropic support, and donations acquisition. This role builds bridges with partners, donors, and the public to secure material and financial resources that support Goodwill's retail and mission-based programs.
Essential functions:
Community Engagement & Strategic Partnerships:
  • Develop and coordinate strategic partnerships to expand Goodwill's visibility, donations, and mission.
  • Cultivate diversified audiences to increase public engagement.
  • Participate actively in community groups, events, and public relations efforts.
  • Coordinate Lunch and Learn Programs and community tours to educate and engage the public.
Donations Development & Acquisition:
  • Create and execute plans to acquire donations from various sources to ensure a consistent flow of goods to retail stores.
  • Build and maintain relationships with individuals, organizations, and community partners across all counties served.
  • Organize and implement donations drives and scheduled donation pick-up/drop off opportunities.
  • Explore innovative donation opportunities such as electronic recycling or specialty item collection through partnerships (e.g., solid waste districts).
  • Engage and steward donor; promote planned giving and legacy gifts.
  • Oversee and ensure integrity of the donor database, acknowledgement processes, and accurate reporting.
Marketing & Outreach:
  • Coordinate with Marketing & Communications staff to create marketing materials and campaigns supporting donation drives, community events, and philanthropic efforts.
  • Promote Goodwill's brand and mission through speaking engagements and visual storytelling.
Reporting & Evaluation:
  • Develop and maintain systems for tracking donation sources and community engagement metrics.
  • Provide regular updates to executive leadership on progress toward donation and community engagement goals.
  • Lead data analysis to drive decision-making and program improvements.
Qualifications:
  • Proven success in relationship building, donor acquisition, and community engagement.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, communication, and project management skills.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively across departments.
  • Familiarity with nonprofit compliance and fundraising best practices.
Requirements:
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to travel throughout the services area.
  • Availability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Must pass a background check.
Critical Performance Factors:
  • Increase in donor and donations acquisition.
  • Growth in community engagement activities and metrics.
  • Donor database integrity and timely reporting.
  • Internal/external communication effectiveness.
Education and experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or related field preferred
  • 1-2 years' experience in marketing or public relations.
Significant experience in the field may be considered in lieu of a degree
