Responsibilities
The State Farm Property & Casualty Auto/Fire team is seeking an experienced OpenText Exstream Software Engineer for the batch Design & Development team within the Customer Communications product suite. Our team collaborates with business areas to meet their customer communication needs. We design, develop, test and support batch applications using the OpenText Exstream composition tool suite. For example, our team builds the customer-facing batch communication documents that customers receive (e.g. policy renewal notices, billing statements, important notices) in the mail and/or view online. We partner with our Enterprise Batch Communication System infrastructure and business calling applications to compose high-volume customer communications using relevant data. Our team also establishes and ensures development and design standards & best practices are used within Exstream.
This position will also support the adoption of new communication development capabilities as Customer Communications modernizes its suite of tools, including the adoption of cloud technology. Team members have significant opportunities to improve customer experience by creating communications for various insurance and financial business areas.
Key Responsibilities:
• Collects and analyzes information to identify customers’ technical needs, suggest solutions and develop implementation and integration plans (e.g., technical proposals)
• Responsible for the analysis, design, deployment, support, and security of technology to ensure the organization is efficiently managing its technology and data-related assets in accordance with market best-practices and external regulations
• Participates in sprint planning; provides work estimates to deliver product stories; owns development stories
• Participate in the full software development cycle including coding, testing, implementation, support and sunset
• Utilizes up-to-date coding, testing, security, DevOps, and software engineering practices to maintain and create new applications that support business requirements
• Utilizes agile software engineering practices, coding and testing standards, code reviews, source code management, continuous delivery, and software architecture.
Qualifications
We are seeking a highly skilled professional with a strong background in OpenText Exstream and cloud-native communication solutions. The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:
Highly preferred Skills:
- Design, develop, and optimize OpenText Exstream templates for high-volume, personalized customer communications using CN Design Manager and Communication Designer.
- Modernize and migrate existing Exstream solutions to cloud-native architectures.
- Experience in Orchestrator design and creation of Command center Job definitions.
- Solid understanding of Customer Communication Management (CCM) concepts, including document composition and multi-channel delivery.
- Hands-on experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and automation for OpenText Exstream deployments in cloud environments (AWS).
- Proficiency in JavaScript is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of XML and JSON data model schema design, including mappings and XSLT for data transformation.
Additional:
- Familiarity with platform monitoring and observability tools such as Splunk, ROSA (Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS), and Dynatrace.
- Experience with DevOps tools such as Terraform, Chef, Puppet, and Ansible.
- Experience working with REST APIs
- Experience working with version control systems, particularly Git.
- Experience with batch, on-demand, and interactive communication processing workflows.
- Experience in creating and maintaining schemas, data dictionaries, and mapping specifications.

- Potential starting salary range: $107,000.00 - $142,000.00
- Starting salary will be based on skills, background, and experience
- High end of the range limited to applicants with significant relevant experience
- Potential yearly incentive pay up to 15% of base salary
