Job Overview:

Reporting to the Director, HR Business Partnering, the Senior HR Business Partner will partner with the business in all aspects of Human Resources including training and onboarding, employee relations, investigations, risk analysis, reporting and analytics, performance management, and other day to day HR activities.

This role is key in providing HR guidance and customer service to all levels of leadership within the organization to ensure development and compliance with corporate policies, employment law, employment standards, and best practices.

The Senior HR Business Partner works both in the office and in the field (e.g., at clinics) within a high-performance, high volume work environment which optimizes internal processes and ensures all activities are well planned, coordinated, and directed while also satisfying the needs of the business partner objectives.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Consult and build solutions with leaders to proactively identify needs, understand complex challenges, and provide recommendations for improvement in the way people management is carried out.
  • Plan and develop HR strategies and solutions to meet business requirements of client areas while maintaining consistency and alignment with overall business objectives and policies set by the HR leadership.
  • Participate in development, implementation and communication of company-wide HR projects, initiatives, policies.
  • Coach and influence leadership on all areas of HR issues including performance management, employee relations, workforce planning, organizational design and resourcing, employee and organizational development, progressive discipline, talent management, succession planning, attraction and retention strategies, job evaluation, illness management.
  • Continuously look to improve upon existing workflows and processes, creating new and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as well as instructional training materials for the team under the direction of the Director of Human Resources.
  • Manage the employee lifecycle at clinics, from assisting in onboarding new team members to employment changes to conducting exit interviews, including ways to automate those processes.
  • Coach and mentor new members of the HR Tier 1&2 HRSC team on day-to-day tasks and be a point of contact for HR issues.
  • Support the Director of HR for production of monthly/quarterly and annual HR metrics and reporting tied to business and HRSC.
  • Manage and resolve mid-level employee relations issues, including conducting investigations.
  • Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation on Labour Laws and Employment Standards across Canada.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the HR leadership.

Accountabilities

  • Work closely with the Regional Managers and other leaders to cultivate the 123Dentist culture; collaborate to create and implement best practices and policies that will govern the team to meet objectives.
  • Build and maintain strong, influential working relationships with all client areas, including senior leadership to enable effective service delivery with high trust, credibility and influence.
  • Build and maintain effective partnerships with HRSC, recruitment and payroll colleagues including subject matter experts.
  • Facilitate teamwork and constructive working relationships within client areas, including use of conflict resolution techniques where appropriate.
  • Education, Credential & Qualifications
  • A university degree in a related Human Resources or Business field
  • A minimum of 7-10+ years of experience as a Business Partner
  • Human Resources Professional (CPHR, CHRP, CHRL etc.) designation
  • Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel, MS Word, MS Visio, MS Outlook, and MS PowerPoint in particular)

  • Flexible and able to adapt to quickly shifting business priorities and demands
  • Solid understanding of HR practices and processes, and attention to detail
  • Strong investigation techniques, risk analyses, and reporting and analytics
  • Customer service mindset in all HR functions
  • Able to work autonomously and independently to support business operations
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
  • Strong customer relationship skills
