YOUR ROLE IN OUR MISSIONThe ROCK Community Center is a phase of The ROCK Initiative, which is a 60,000-square-foot space facility providing a much-needed safe space and learning activities geared towards the Arlington Woods community youth. Our offerings include academic and social enrichment, tutoring, and recreational activities for youth. We also partner with the community to offer activities on entrepreneurship, financial literacy, knowledge, and skill-building around positive social behaviors, leadership skills, emotional intelligence, and college and career readiness. We also offer opportunities to foster community and youth exposure, and engagement for lifelong success. The ROCK Community Center for Children and Youth (RCCYC) will be a catalyst for
transformation in the Arlington Woods community and beyond; fulfilling the need for programming and services to its residents by providing a place to gather, learn, and build a positive future for children, youth, and families.
PROJECT FOCUSEastern Star Church's ROCK Community Center is hosting Indy Summer Learning Labs, a program by the Mind Trust that focuses on enhancing reading and math literacy for 1st through 5th graders.
JOB OBJECTIVEIndy Summer Learning Lab Summer Camp Counselors are teachers’ aides. Mind Trust provides teachers.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESThe essential key responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Guiding students into the correct classrooms
- Checking students in and out of classrooms utilizing the EZ Facility system on tablets
- Mitigating any disruptions or behavioral issues that may arise/conflict resolution among students
- Distributing meals and snacks as needed
- Assisting with classroom set up and bringing in necessary supplies and materials
- Chaperoning center sponsored field trips
- Providing additional support and assistance to instructors as needed
- Ensuring attendance is collected and logged
- Showing vendors to their assigned classrooms
- Providing educational support to students
- Ability to relate to the general public, parents, and participants in a friendly, positive, and professional manner
- Ability to convey RCCYC policies and procedures to participants and implement appropriate
Guidance and discipline policies
- Ability to organize and supervise participants to maintain a safe and welcoming environment
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Demonstrate enthusiasm, energy, and commitment in close contact with participants, parents, volunteers, staff, and the general public

- Growth in the number and diversity of volunteers engaged annually.
- High volunteer and parent satisfaction/retention rates.
- Accurate and timely tracking of parent engagement and volunteer hours.
- Positive feedback from staff, families, and community partners.
