About This Position

Job Summary

The Calibration Specialist Engineer is responsible for managing, maintaining, and improving the calibration system for inspection, measurement, and test equipment used in manufacturing operations. This role ensures compliance with ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 17025 requirements, customer specifications, and internal quality procedures. The position supports product quality, measurement reliability, and continuous improvement across the Salcomp USA manufacturing facility, while also supporting NPI activities according to Test Engineering procedures.

Key Responsibilities1. Calibration & Metrology
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the calibration program for inspection, measuring, and test equipment (IMTE).
  • Ensure timely calibration, verification, and recertification of equipment according to company procedures and applicable standards.
  • Manage calibration intervals, traceability, and calibration records using calibration management systems.
  • Perform in-house calibrations where applicable and coordinate external calibration services when required.
  • Ensure measurement traceability to national or international standards in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025.
  • Identify expired or non-compliant calibration equipment, remove equipment from service, and report nonconformances to management.
  • Support containment actions and corrective action plans related to calibration issues.
2. Quality & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 17025, customer requirements, and internal quality procedures.
  • Support internal, customer, and third-party audits related to calibration and measurement systems.
  • Investigate out-of-tolerance calibration conditions and evaluate potential product impact.
  • Participate in Measurement System Analysis (MSA) activities including Gage R&R studies.
  • Support other quality-related activities assigned by the Quality Manager.
3. Engineering & Manufacturing Support
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing and quality teams regarding measurement capability and equipment usage.
  • Recommend new measurement technologies and calibration tools to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Process Engineering, Quality Engineering, SQE, and inspection teams on control plans and inspection strategies.
  • Provide guidance on proper use, handling, and storage of measurement equipment.
4. Continuous Improvement & Documentation
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to calibration systems and measurement processes.
  • Develop and maintain calibration procedures, work instructions, and documentation.
  • Train inspectors, technicians, and engineers on calibration awareness and measurement best practices.
  • Coordinate purchase requests and vendor communication for external calibration services.
  • Ensure compliance with purchasing and finance processes for calibration-related services.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related field).
  • 1–3 years of experience in calibration, metrology, quality engineering, or process engineering within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working with mechanical, electrical, or electronic measurement equipment.
  • Experience working in ISO-certified manufacturing environments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Calibration or metrology certifications (e.g., ASQ Certified Calibration Technician or similar).
  • Experience in electronics manufacturing or high-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing knowledge.
  • Experience supporting customer audits or global manufacturing standards.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Work is performed in a manufacturing plant environment and may include handling calibration equipment. Occasional lifting may be required. Limited travel may be necessary to support external calibration laboratories or other Salcomp facilities.
