Position Summary
The Match Day Photography Intern is responsible for capturing high-quality still images of live matches, fan engagement, and Ruoff Mortgage Stadium moments to support the Fort Wayne Football Club’s marketing, social media, and communications efforts. This role documents key moments before, during, and after matches to visually tell the story of the club and enhance fan connection. The photography intern is expected to deliver timely, dynamic, and professional-quality images for immediate and future use. This position operates with moderate independence while coordinating with marketing and communications staff. The role is ideal for individuals with a passion for sports photography and visual storytelling.
Essential Responsibilities
- Capture high-quality images of in-game action, pre-match warmups, and post-match moments to support club content needs.
- Photograph fan experience at Ruoff Mortgage Stadium, including crowd shots, promotions, and stadium atmosphere to enhance storytelling and engagement.
- Deliver a variety of dynamic and engaging images that align with the club’s brand and marketing objectives.
- Edit and submit photos in a timely manner following matches to support real-time and next-day content needs.
- Collaborate with marketing and communications staff to ensure coverage of key moments and initiatives.
- Assist with setup, maintenance, and breakdown of photography equipment as needed.
- Maintain professionalism while working on the field and interacting with players, staff, and fans.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency with DSLR or mirrorless cameras and related photography equipment.
- Strong understanding of sports or live event photography, including timing and composition.
- Basic photo editing skills using software such as Adobe Lightroom or Photoshop.
- Ability to work in fast-paced, live-event environments and capture key moments effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and creative eye for storytelling through images.
- Ability to work independently while following directions and meeting deadlines.
- Dependable, organized, and responsive to feedback.
Experience and Training
- Must be at least 16 years old or older.
- Prior experience in sports, action, or event photography preferred.
- Portfolio or samples of previous photography work are strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with photo editing software is a plus.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand, walk, and move quickly for extended periods during matches.
- Ability to carry and operate camera equipment (up to 25 lbs).
- Ability to work in varying positions (kneeling, crouching, sideline movement) to capture optimal shots.
Work Environment:
- Primarily outdoor stadium environment during live sporting events.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions.
- Fast-paced, high-energy atmosphere with frequent movement and noise.
- Evening and weekend hours are required based on match schedule.
Job Dimensions
- Works closely with marketing, communications, and media staff.
- Limited direct interaction with fans; primary focus is on content capture.
