About This Position
JOB SUMMARY
Identifying variances in care and criteria fall-outs to help guide the overall care of trauma patients in this organization. Responsible for 100% trauma registry chart audits, data compilation, state registry reporting and data entry. Frequent interaction with providers and support staff, as well as survey teams during re-designation cycle. Trauma Registrars have a professional obligation to participate in committee activities, surveys, and improvement initiatives.
The RN Trauma Registrar is responsible for creating and running existing validations reports in the Trauma Registry for Quality, Performance Improvement and the Trauma Program. Skills include data analysis and data validity of the Trauma Registry. Works with other registrars to assure the trauma registry data is validated in a timely, accurate manner to promote quality collection of clinical and administrative data. Complies with all Federal and State regulations and accrediting bodies. Collaborates with Trauma Service Manager, Trauma Coordinator and Trauma Performance Improvement Coordinator to identify performance trends and subsequent reports necessary to comply with the requirements of the National Trauma Data Bank and the Department of State and Health Services.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education
- Completion of Associate’s Degree in Nursing
Minimum Work Experience
- Two consecutive years in acute care setting preferred.
Required Licenses/Certifications
- Associates Degree in Nursing
- CAISS within 18 months
- AIS/AAAM Course within 12 months
- ICD10 Coding Certificate within 12 months
- Trauma Data Registry Course within 12 months
- BLS
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Familiarity with State criteria for a Level III trauma designated facility is a core component in this role
- In collaboration with the trauma team, will use the trauma registry to guide injury prevention in the community
- Collaborate with the Trauma Program Manager to meet National, State and Regional deadlines for submission of trauma registry data
- Collaborate with Trauma Program leadership to run monthly trauma meeting reports
- Collaborates with the Trauma Program leadership to complete monthly Trauma Registry Validation including single, multivariable and inter-rater reliability validation checks of the trauma registry data and trauma registrars
- Efficient, thorough chart auditing skills
- Timely chart audits
