Maintenance Technician

Facility: Buffalo, NY

General Description
The Maintenance Technician is responsible to assure that the manufacturing/process areas are always kept in good mechanical repair and working order as well as in constant production mode. They will support production with preventative and corrective maintenance, fabrication and machining of fixtures and other devices. They must be able to use safety policy and lockout tagout to ensure no risk of injury to themselves or other employees.

Specific Duties
• Order proper materials for job completion.
• Follow all lockout tagout procedures.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment.
• Complete required records for work performed.
• Perform planned maintenance inspections as required.
• Maintain equipment to ensure maximum reliability.
• Troubleshoot mechanical equipment failures and repair all process and plant equipment as necessary.
• Fabricate and machine fixtures and other devices to support Production.
• Must keep work area clean, neat, and orderly. Perform general housekeeping functions daily as required to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
• Communicate professionally with everyone in the plant.
• Follow instruction from the Shift Leader and Manager.
• Work overtime as required.
• Fill in or cross train in other departments as assigned.
• Follow all applicable environmental, health and safety rules and procedures and immediately report all dangerous situations, near-misses, and injuries.
• Participate in developing and updating risk assessments and review all applicable risk assessments annually.

Qualifications
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Complete tasks with minimal supervision.
• Basic mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to use hand and shop tools.
• Proven mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic skills.
• Mechanical experience in either manufacturing or related areas.
• Good communication skills are required.
• Ability to lift 60 pounds on a regular basis, multiple times an hour.
• Must be able to work in an un-airconditioned environment for a minimum of 8 hours per day.

Physical Demands
• The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.
• The employee frequently is required to stand; walk, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop. A large degree of lifting (moderate to heavyweight), bending, squatting and maneuvering. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, for viewing a computer terminal distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception vision for moving objects and ability to adjust focus.
• This position is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
• The ability to work with chemicals in the proper environment and while wearing PPE.

Personal Protective Equipment
The following list of PPE is required while in the manufacturing area:
• Safety Glasses conforming to ANSI Z87.1 or higher
• Steel Toe Safety Shoes conforming to OSHA General Industry Standards 29 CFR 1910
• Hearing protection conforming to OSHA General Industry Standards 29 CFR 1910
• The ability to wear a full or half face respirator conforming to OSHA General Industry Standards 39 CFR 1910.134
• Additional PPE may be required depending on the department
