We’re seeking an Automation Manufacturing Project Leader 2 who combines mechanical expertise, strong leadership skills, and a passion for building high‑performance automated systems. In this role, you’ll work side‑by‑side with talented technicians and engineers to assemble, debug, and commission custom automation equipment — helping ensure every system delivers peak performance.
Automation Manufacturing Project Leader 2 Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the commissioning, assembly, and debugging of medium‑ to large‑scale custom automation systems, ensuring they meet all performance and quality requirements.
- Drive project performance by managing timelines, holding daily/weekly check‑ins, and guaranteeing critical milestones are met.
- Oversee documentation and verification processes including pre‑FAT checklists, machine verification, Gage R&R, CpK studies, and FAT/SAT execution.
- Collaborate closely with Manufacturing Supervisors and Program Managers to coordinate schedules, integrate change orders, and meet customer expectations.
- Guide and review the technical work of assigned team members, ensuring exceptional craftsmanship throughout system builds.
- Troubleshoot system issues by working with mechanical, electrical, programming, design, and purchasing teams.
- Lead on‑site machine installations and customer acceptances (SAT), including necessary travel and multi‑shift support.
- Coach and develop Mechanical Technicians (Levels 1–3) while promoting a safe, organized, ISO‑compliant work environment.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean practices, 5S, and participation in Lanco’s Idea System.
Automation Manufacturing Project Leader 2 Job Qualifications:
- A.S. degree in mechanical/electrical field or 3–5 years of relevant experience.
- Some cross‑trained electrical experience.
- Demonstrated mastery and confidence with entry-to-intermediate Mechanical Technician and Project Leadership roles.
- Familiarity with machining tools (mill, lathe, grinder).
- Experience with purchasing/materials processes and BOM change forms.
- Understanding of engineering processes and documentation.
- Ability to perform physical requirements of the role (reaching, kneeling, lifting 25–50 lbs., etc.).
- A proactive, hands‑on leadership style and strong problem‑solving mindset.
