The Human Resource Assistant plays a pivotal role in supporting our HR department. Ensuring smooth HR Operations, day to day business, assisting in recruiting, onboarding, benefit administration and managing employee records. The HR Assistant will help shape a productive company culture and be instrumental in building a positive workplace environment.

Requirements:

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Launches new hire enrollment of health and welfare plans, including changes and terminations. Processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions are captured by payroll.
  • Performs customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions.
  • Completes Forms I-9, verifies I-9 documentation and maintains I-9 files.
  • Submits online new-employee background checks and notifies team members of successful completion.
  • Assists with processing of terminations.
  • Proofreads and distributes documents and correspondence produced on behalf of the HR department.
  • Processes required paperwork for employee transfers, changes in job classification, salary increases, and other related employment matters.
  • Assists with the preparation of the performance review process.
  • Assists with recruitment and interview process. Setting up interviews and communicating with candidates and hiring team members. Tracks status of candidates in HRIS and responds with follow-up letters at the end of the recruiting process.
  • Makes photocopies; mails, scans and emails documents; and performs other clerical functions.
  • Files documents into appropriate employee files, prepares new-employee files.
  • Assists or prepares correspondence as requested.
  • Assist with planning and preparation of special events, i.e., benefit enrollment, leadership development meetings, retirement/holiday events.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills / Abilities:

  • Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail, with a commitment to deliver high-quality work.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Working understanding of human resource principles, practices and procedures.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Education and Experience:

  • Associates degree in Business Administration
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Human Resources
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems and basic data entry.
  • SHRM-CP and/or PHR certification required

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
