Material Coordinator at Texas Iron and Metal – Houston, Texas

Position Summary
The Material Coordinator is responsible for the safe completion of operational tasks. These tasks include but are not limited to communicating with customers in a courteous and respectful manner, pulling and staging of materials for sales orders, inventory transfers for restocking locations, assisting customers in the selection of materials, and the loading of customer and company vehicles. This position reports to the Warehouse Supervisor and Operations Manager.

Key Responsibilities
o Follow all safety rules and expectations:
 Use of proper PPE.
 Operate equipment in a safe manner.
 Adhere to material storage safety guidelines.
 Housekeeping – ensuring debris that could be a potential safety risk or cause damage to equipment is addressed immediately.
o Maintain accurate movement of inventory by use of technology and proper documentation.
o Ensure that all order fulfilment procedures are being followed, without exception. This will include but is not limited to:
 Proper relocation of materials.
 Proper reservation of material to sales orders.
 Immediately inform supervision of inventory discrepancies so they can be addressed at that time, not at a later time or date.
o Tag and stage materials according to applicable procedures.
o Communicate any delays, issues, or changes in order fulfilment status to the Customer Service Lead.
o Ensure all materials are stored safely and according to company procedures, minimizing damage and loss.

Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years of experience in material handling or warehouse operations.
• Ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced, physically active environment.
• Ability to read and understand work orders, and material specs.
• Forklift certification required.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.

Preferred Qualifications
• Metal distribution experience.
• Bilingual English/Spanish.
• Experience handling materials over 20 ft in length over uneven terrain.

Working Conditions
• Work performed primarily in warehouse and yard environments, including outdoor exposure.
• Requires frequent walking, standing, lifting, and use of industrial equipment.
• This position does not work in a climate-controlled environment and must be able to handle working in all weather conditions, excluding severe weather events.
