About the Role:

The Sr. Automation/Controls Engineer plays a pivotal role in designing, developing, and implementing advanced automation and control systems within the midstream oil & gas industry. This position is responsible for leading complex automation projects from conception through completion, ensuring that systems meet client specifications, safety standards, and operational efficiency goals. The engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including project managers, clients, and technical staff, to deliver innovative solutions that enhance productivity and reliability. A key outcome of this role is to provide expert guidance and training to internal teams and clients, fostering knowledge transfer and supporting continuous improvement. Ultimately, the Sr. Automation/Controls Engineer ensures that automation projects are executed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, driving business growth and client satisfaction across the United States.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in automation and controls engineering within a professional or technical services environment.
  • Proven experience managing automation projects, including proposal development and project execution.
  • Strong knowledge of control systems, PLC programming, HMI/SCADA systems, and industrial communication protocols.
  • Excellent communication skills with experience delivering technical training and presentations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering or related discipline.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license or relevant industry certifications (e.g., Certified Automation Professional).
  • Experience with advanced automation technologies such as robotics, machine vision, or IoT integration.
  • Familiarity with project management software and methodologies (e.g., PMP certification).
  • Experience working in a client-facing role within the United States market.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of automation and control systems for diverse projects.
  • Manage automation projects including scope definition, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation to ensure successful delivery.
  • Prepare detailed proposals and accurate quotes for potential automation projects, collaborating with sales and engineering teams.
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops for clients and internal staff to ensure proper system operation and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to troubleshoot, optimize, and enhance existing automation systems.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and client requirements throughout project lifecycles.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
