Summary

Under the direction of the Communications and Outreach Manager, this role will be responsible for supporting internal communications, workforce development, community engagement and public awareness. The ideal candidate is a creative professional who designs, produces and manages digital content, integrating video, audio, graphics and animation to create engaging materials.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Content Development

  • Develop, film, and produce short-form video content for use across social media platforms in collaboration with the Communications & Outreach team that supports AlexRenew’s mission to protect public health and the waterways that connect us.
  • Build, manage, and grow AlexRenew’s YouTube channel.
  • Use photography skills to capture compelling images for digital, print, and internal communications.
  • Edit photos and video content for internal and external use, including social media, websites, presentations, and events.
  • Help draft and edit written content such as event promotions, internal updates, flyers, newsletters, and web content and distribute across campus
  • Support outreach campaigns that combine digital and in-person engagement.
  • Assist with media and public awareness efforts as needed, including basic research, content support, and website management
  • Manage and organize our photo, video, and digital assets so content is easy to fine and ready to use
  • Ensure all content aligns with AlexRenew’s brand voice, tone, and messaging.

Workforce Development

  • Film, edit, and produce training videos with guidance by the Communications & Outreach Manager and in close collaboration with Technical Trainers.
  • Support Communications and Outreach Specialist with digital signage.
  • Support internal communications initiatives with clear, engaging content for employees.

Community Outreach

  • Represent AlexRenew at community events across the service area, at events including tabling, presentations, tours, and demonstrations.
  • Support the planning, promotion, and execution of community outreach events.
  • Engage with community members as friendly, knowledgeable representative of the organization.
  • Use video and visual storytelling to promote community events, including annual Open House
  • Capture event moments through video, photography, and live social media updates.

Collaboration

  • Work with teammates across departments to support campaigns and outreach efforts.
  • Manage multiple projects at once while meeting deadlines.
  • Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and staff members to support communications initiatives.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualification Requirements:

Education and/or Experience:

  • Associate’s degree in communications, Marketing, Public Relations or related field; or combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Three (3) years’ experience in communications, visual storytelling or related role desired.
  • Experience using social media platforms, tools, and analytics (Sprout Social, HootSuite, or similar).
  • Experience with video editing and design tools (Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
  • Ability to stay organized, manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Proficiency in computer software programs, including Microsoft Office Suite, Photoshop, Adobe Creative Suite, SharePoint, LightRoom, Google Photos preferred.
  • Passion for the water/wastewater industry and alignment with AlexRenew’s mission and strategic priorities.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment and “can-do” attitude.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. A detailed Physical Demands Analysis is available in Human Resources and a copy will be provided to all incumbents in this position. The duties of this job are typical of office work, and include lifting up to 20 pounds, and minimal pushing or pulling.

Work Environment:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Environmental conditions necessitate following strict safety guidelines and use of Personal Protective Equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee performs work indoors in a climate-controlled environment, with outdoor trips between buildings.
