The Chief Program Officer serves as a core executive leader responsible for unifying member engagement, learning, grantmaking, and advocacy into a single, high-impact system for donor and movement power-building.
This role translates strategic vision into actionable programs that deepen member participation in philanthropic and political transformation efforts.
It oversees the design of integrated member journeys that move individuals from learning and connection to coordinated giving and advocacy.
As part of the Executive Team, it partners closely with the CEO to shape organizational strategy and long-term impact.
The position leads senior functional teams, ensuring alignment, accountability, and cohesion across cross-functional initiatives.
It plays a critical role in strengthening a national, values-driven network committed to advancing gender, racial, economic, and climate justice.
This remote US-based role requires frequent travel and the ability to operate effectively across dynamic, fast-moving advocacy and philanthropic environments.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead and integrate learning, advocacy, and strategic grantmaking functions into a cohesive, member-centered system aligned with mission and strategy.
  • Oversee and develop senior leaders across multiple teams, ensuring strong execution, accountability, and cross-functional alignment.
  • Drive organizational strategy for member engagement, transforming participation into coordinated action, giving, and advocacy impact.
  • Refine and scale membership pathways, strengthening conversion from education and engagement into mobilization and collective power-building.
  • Design and implement systems for data-driven program evaluation, ensuring continuous improvement and impact optimization.
  • Partner with executive leadership, boards, and internal teams to ensure organizational alignment and strategic execution across all initiatives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with members, grantees, and external partners to strengthen ecosystem collaboration and influence.

Requirements:

  • 15+ years of progressive experience in nonprofit, philanthropy, movement-building, or advocacy environments, including senior executive leadership roles.
  • Proven experience leading complex, cross-functional strategies and organizational transformation in multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Strong background in philanthropy, political advocacy, and systems of power, with experience mobilizing significant resources toward mission-driven goals.
  • Demonstrated success in designing and scaling member engagement, donor strategy, or network-based organizational models.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence diverse groups toward shared outcomes.
  • High emotional intelligence, strong systems thinking, and the ability to translate vision into operational strategy and measurable results.
  • Deep commitment to social justice values, with experience working across gender, racial, economic, or climate justice priorities strongly preferred.

Benefits:

  • Competitive base salary starting at $240,000 per year.
  • Fully employer-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance for employees, with significant coverage for dependents.
  • Retirement plan with employer contribution and matching structure.
  • Generous paid time off including vacation days, sick leave, and company holidays.
  • Home office support including internet and phone expense reimbursement.
  • Professional development funding for learning and growth opportunities.
  • Remote-first work environment with flexibility and nationwide collaboration.
