Job Description
Martin/Martin Wyoming, Inc is looking for an entry-level structural engineer to join our Structural Engineering Group in our Wyoming office. This engineer will work for multiple project managers on a broad range of project types.
A typical work week can include engineering calculations, drawing development, site visits, etc. This position allows for interactions with (owners, architects, contractors, etc.) early in your career along with opportunities for marketing activities.
Each project presents unique challenges and opportunities to learn and grow as an engineer.? The successful candidate will develop expertise in a broad range of structural engineering.

Responsibilities
- Knowledge and use of computer design and graphics software.
- Completes design calculations for project components.
- Prepares details.
- Accomplishes reference research.
- Familiarizes self with products and construction procedures.
- Prepares and writes reports.
- Provides field observation during construction.
- Assist Project Manager in Construction Administration, including checking of submittals, providing independent field observations.
- Attends technical training seminars.
- Studies and applies building code and/or jurisdictional requirements under the supervision of the Project Manager.
- Checks shop drawings and product submittals.
- Focuses on design of project components tasks assigned by the Project Manager.
- Calculates and checks dimensions.
- Work overtime, when necessary.
- Has some communication with Clients, other team consultants, and contractors.
- Provides independent field observation during construction.
- Learns provisions IBC, ASCE-7, and material-specific codes and how to apply them (Structural only).
- Completes tasks, as assigned by Project Manager.
Required
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an engineering curriculum in Architectural, Civil, Structural, or related engineering field.
- Has passed FE Examination
- Completes assigned tasks in a timely manner and instills confidence in their communication and technical abilities
- 0-4 years’ experience
- Must be eligible to work for any employer in the United States, without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.
- Ability to work in the Cheyenne, Wyoming area. Relocation reimbursement may be provided, depending on the role and job function.
Desired
- Master's degree in engineering from an engineering curriculum in Architectural, Civil, Structural, or related engineering field.
- Knowledge of building and material design codes
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Strong written, technical, and interpersonal skills
- Committed to client service and a team-based approach
- Experience using Autodesk Revit to produce building construction documents
- Experience analyzing structures using RAM, SAP, ETABS, or RISA
- Construction field experience and involved in at least one project from start to end of construction
- GPA of 3.5 or higher
- Developing knowledge of layout and assembling project drawings
- Increasing knowledge of common analysis and design skills, building codes, and jurisdiction requirements
Working Conditions, Skills, and Abilities
This position is primarily technical in nature and requires working inside and outside the office to complete a wide range of activities. The following abilities are required:
- Move inside or outside the office and on non-ADA accessible construction sites
- Remain stationary for long periods of time
- Repetitive movement on tasks such as using a keyboard or mouse
- Carry, ascend, and descend a ladder
- Identify color
- Read, communicate, and document in English
- Determine and exchange accurate information
- Occasionally move or hold equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
Compensation
The wage range for this role considers the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.
- Base Salary: This is a salaried position with accrued time eligibility. (Accrued time allows additional compensation or time-off to be earned for any eligible hours worked exceeding 40 hours per week).
- Base Salary Review: This role is eligible to participate in Martin/Martin’s annual base salary increase review process.
- Annual Bonus: This role is eligible to participate in a discretionary annual bonus program.
Base salary review and increases, in addition to annual bonuses, are dependent on various factors, including a hired individual’s job-level and annual company performance.
