About This Position
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Residential Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of our multi-family properties. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, adhering to company policies and procedures, and managing the month-end closing process. The ideal candidate thrives on process improvement, mentoring staff, and fostering collaboration between the accounting team and other departments to achieve excellence in property management accounting.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB
- Supervise, mentor, and motivate a team of 2–4 accounting professionals, fostering a positive, collaborative, and high-performing environment.
- Assist in hiring, onboarding, training, and ongoing coaching to develop staff capabilities and ensure consistent performance.
- Act as the primary relationship owner for assigned clients, managing ongoing communication related to financial reporting, service quality, and special requests.
- Resolve escalated client issues, coordinate internal responses, and escalate higher-risk concerns to the Residential Controller as appropriate.
- Own execution of the month-end close process for assigned teams and portfolios, including detailed secondary review of property financials for accuracy, completeness, and policy compliance.
- Identify recurring close issues, drive corrective actions, and ensure internal accountants and outsourcing partners meet established close timelines.
- Escalate material delays, risks, or persistent close issues to the Residential Controller with recommended solutions.
- Manage ongoing performance of outsourcing partners for assigned portfolios, ensuring compliance with established policies, timelines, and quality standards.
- Resolve property-specific outsourcing issues and escalate systemic or global performance concerns to the Residential Controller.

The expected compensation range for this position is $100,000.00- $110,000.00 per year, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience.
Requirements:
- Minimum 4 years of experience with practical experience in Real Estate accounting and/or Property Management
- Minimum 2 years supervisory experience
- Experience with Yardi is highly desired
- Experience in cash management, forecasting and planning
- Experience leading a team
