About This Position

Description:

POSITION SUMMARY: The primary function of the Milieu Manager is to oversee the management of the therapeutic milieu/s for the facility. The Milieu Manager directly reports to the Clinical Director. Maintain safety, accountability (correct count of each resident) and security of facility. Assist with the implementation and monitoring of programs on an ongoing basis; ensure optimum functioning of programs, systems and facilities. Hire, train, evaluate, discipline, and supervise all Direct Care staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Supervises Assistant Milieu Manager, Shift Supervisors, and the Behavioral Health Technicians on shift; provides leadership.

· Oversees the implementation of all processes, policies, procedures, and behavior management.

· Is a resource person for the Behavioral Health Technician and nursing staff.

· Performs performance evaluations for the direct care staff.

· Performs audits for the unit.

· Takes charge during all critical and emergency events while on duty and contacts On-Call leadership staff to receive direction and keeps them up to date regarding all significant resident and program issues that affect milieu operations.

· Works with Clinical Director and Director of Nursing to ensure all relevant information is shared with clinical, direct care, and nursing staff.

· Ensures units maintain appropriate staff/resident ratios to meet the needs of the resident in care and takes steps to minimize overtime.

· Coordinates with Assistant Milieu Manager to arrange for relief staff as needed due to scheduling needs and call ins.

· Continuously observes residents’/clients' behavior, mental status and activities; ensure notification of therapist and unit RN of any changes or unusual occurrences.

· Demonstrates the ability to identify behaviors that require intervention.

· Implement the daily milieu schedule, facilitate psycho-educational groups and Community Meeting groups.

· Oversees the completion of Incident Reports, staff monitoring forms, progress notes, and other required documents by the end of shift.
