About This Position
Description:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:
- Develop exhibit design concepts. Write exhibit narrative. Serve as curator of the collection, design, initiate and conduct research on Cahuilla culture. Interpret research data.
- Serve as education director/community outreach.
- Act as liaison between Cabazon Cultural Museum (Cabazon Band) and other educational institutions and tribal entities.
- Serve as registrar (accessions, de-accessions, gifts and loans).
- Serve as conservator (to maintain integrity of the collection) Merchandise the museum shop.
- Train and supervise staff other culturally related activities nagpra (Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act) Representative.
- Produce educational materials about Cabazon tribal history Report to the Cabazon General Council Organize tribal ceremonies and Native American presentations ¬ tour visiting dignitaries
- UCR History Project liaison - Preparation of history booklet for publication.
- Maintain the tribal archives - Resource for: CBCI and print media Conduct research on Native American history, culture and archaeology of the area Liaison with the Smithsonian Museum's network of scholars Indio's Historic Mural Project - Chair Artist
- Powwow Chairman
- Long-range organization months in advance of the November event, prepare budgets and track payments, preparation of souvenir program booklets.
- Coordinate with Sales Department for advertising in program booklet Merchandise - design and produce t-shirts, buttons, etc. Prepare posters and two flyers - (for participants and the general public) coordinate advertising - electronic media (interviews), print and video Organize participants (vendors, dancers, singers).
- Coordinate organization with Casino Operations personnel Coordinate organization with Fantasy Springs Resort operations personnel museum fundraising.
This position is not limited to those duties listed in the job description. Duties and responsibilities can be changed, expanded, reduced or deleted to meet business needs of the company.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does have supervisory responsibilities
Requirements:- Basic office skills and computer programs.
- Minimum of 5 years’ related experience and/or training with at least 3 years of Tribal administration.
Work Environment:
Employees working in the Casino or Bowling Center may be exposed to second-hand smoke and moderate levels of noise. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical equipment.
