This role is a high-impact leadership position responsible for overseeing revenue recognition and cost of goods sold accounting for key business lines within a fast-growing, acquisition-driven organization. You will lead a revenue accounting team while ensuring compliance with US GAAP and ASC 606 standards across complex, multi-element arrangements. The position plays a critical role in driving accuracy, automation, and scalability across end-to-end revenue processes. You will collaborate closely with Sales, Operations, IT, and Finance to ensure seamless contract structuring, reporting integrity, and financial alignment. This is a highly visible role that combines technical accounting expertise, operational transformation, and people leadership in a dynamic, high-performance environment. Your work will directly influence financial reporting quality, audit readiness, and strategic decision-making.

Accountabilities:

In this role, you will lead the revenue accounting function, ensuring accurate revenue recognition, cost of goods sold reporting, and strong financial controls across key revenue streams. You will also drive process improvements and automation while partnering cross-functionally to support business growth.

  • Oversee revenue recognition and COGS accounting, ensuring compliance with ASC 606 and US GAAP standards.
  • Lead and develop a revenue accounting team, including coaching, workload management, and performance development.
  • Manage end-to-end revenue cycle processes, ensuring accuracy of contract setup, billing, and revenue timing.
  • Prepare and analyze customer profitability reporting, including forecast-to-actual performance comparisons.
  • Review complex contracts and multi-element arrangements to determine proper accounting treatment and revenue timing.
  • Lead balance sheet reconciliations, including deferred revenue and contract assets, ensuring accuracy and integrity.
  • Partner with Sales, Operations, and Finance teams to resolve revenue-related inquiries and provide actionable insights.
  • Drive process improvements and automation initiatives to enhance close efficiency and scalability.
  • Support internal and external audits while maintaining strong internal controls and compliance standards.
  • Collaborate with IT and systems teams on data migration, testing, and system enhancements (e.g., ERP and CRM integrations).
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is a seasoned accounting leader with deep technical expertise in revenue recognition and strong experience managing teams in complex, fast-paced environments. You bring a strong mix of analytical thinking, leadership capability, and process improvement mindset.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA required.
  • 7+ years of accounting experience, including leadership responsibility in revenue accounting or similar roles.
  • Strong expertise in US GAAP and ASC 606 revenue recognition standards.
  • Experience in public accounting and/or large-scale corporate accounting environments preferred.
  • Proven track record of managing, coaching, and developing accounting teams.
  • Strong experience with financial systems such as NetSuite, Salesforce, and/or ServiceNow preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to improve business processes and drive operational efficiency.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict reporting deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to partner across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
