Compensation

The base hourly rate for this position is $32.24.

Position Overview:

This position is responsible for communicating and supporting JM core values and delivering the JM experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Follow all Johns Manville safety procedures and polices… Follow JSA/SOP’s
  • Ensure successful execution at the Tactical level of the Production Lines
  • Execute leadership guidance in line with JM Core values and Scottsboro team culture
  • Participate and/or coordinate task teams, especially those of a tactical level
  • Make recommendations to the Shift Supervisor about the training needs of the crew
  • Coordinating training needs of the crew
  • Drive the progression of crew members through the Pay for Skills system
  • Full responsibility to present regular training assessments to the shift supervisor, including the identification of needs and priorities
  • Coordinate job and performance evaluations for Winder and Line Operators with the Supervisors
  • Responsible for developing personal leadership skills necessary to act as Shift Supervisor when necessary
  • Communicate employee’s concerns to the supervisor and management
  • Full responsibility to formulate tactical procedures to best support strategic plan
  • Assist the Supervisor with scheduling and coverage solutions
  • Coordinate successful execution through training, metric analysis, and accountability with the Supervisor
  • Collaborate with plant engineers to develop trial plans
  • Full responsibility for the Operator Driven Reliability program for your crew
  • Determine additional metrics to assess success
  • Communicate performance issues or concerns to the Supervisor
  • Participate in all JM Leadership training programs, as well as pursue outside opportunities to develop leadership skills
  • Participate in staff meetings and give feedback to other staff regarding process execution, process plans, and opportunities for improvement. Increase ownership and participation
  • Assist the Supervisor in coordinating and enforcing safety programs and initiatives
  • Full responsibility to develop and utilize combination of personal leadership and technical roles as necessary.
  • Utilize independent skills for assessment of daily needs
  • Perform operator duties as requires
  • Wears proper clothing and PPE as required

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • This person must have the skills to interact as a leader with all plant department employees.
  • Lead pre-shift huddles
  • Overseeing and coaching employees
  • Assist with setting daily/weekly/monthly objectives and communicating them to employees

Requirements: (education, skills, and abilities)

  • High School Diploma
  • 3 Years Manufacturing Experience
  • Demonstrated Supervisory Experience
  • Strong Written and Verbal Communication Skills
  • Demonstrated Ability to Troubleshoot and Handle Multiple Priorities and Projects
  • Working Knowledge of Software Programs Such as Spreadsheet, Word Processing and Data Base Programs.

Physical Requirements:

The physical requirements of this position are: (these requirements are typical for most of our manufacturing roles)

  • The ability to stand for extended periods
  • The ability to manually lift, push or pull at least 50 pounds safely and with proper body mechanics, sometimes while in awkward positions.
  • Use of hands (repetitive motion, grabbing, feeling, sensing, pulling)
  • The ability to work safely in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful work environment
  • The ability to safely and effectively work in an often-dusty work environment that experiences a broad range of temperatures (very hot to very cold).
  • The ability to withstand the rigors of working a 12(or 8)-hour rotating shift schedule.
  • The ability to bend, stoop or kneel repetitively.
  • The ability to reach or work above the shoulder.
