Mental Health Technician Supervisor (Full-Time) at Crawford County Mental Health Center – Pittsburg, Kansas
About This Position
Job Summary:
This is a position in the treatment and rehabilitation field in regard to the disease of addiction and crisis stabilization. The Mental Health Technician Supervisor is responsible for the oversight of Mental Health Technicians (MHT) and delivery of services necessary to assist clients in daily living in a residential program and on the stabilization unit. The supervisor conducts general word processing, copying, filing and general clerical duties. Work is performed with independence within the limits of established policies and under the supervision of the Program Director.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Knowledge of Alcohol and Drug and/or Mental Illness preferred.
- Additional knowledge that would be helpful in this position is management experience, organizational skills, self-disciplined, effective communication skills, supervision and documentation of self-administering of medication, and computer skills.
Responsibilities:
- Provide training to MHT employees. Training them on daily shift duties, such as
- Conducting group lectures/discussion, attendance, monitoring of medication and reviewing medication protocols, social detox monitoring, meal prep, crisis support and other additional duties assigned.
- Responsible for signing off and submitting competencies.
- Provide all services from a trauma informed prospective.
- Thorough understanding of confidentiality regulations.
- Filing, maintenance of client records and general office duties
- Prepare and monitor work crew assignments
- Obtain random UAs on clients
- Conflict resolution among clients and subordinates.
- Participate in weekly treatment team meetings
- Document client interactions.
- Works with the Office Coordinator to conduct Fire Drills and Tornado Drills to comply with state codes
- Maintain daily operational reports and coordinate services with the Director
- Acts as on-site liaison for the Director and provides oversight to daily operational logistics
- Supervision, scheduling and training Mental Health Techs
- Development and implementation of MHT competencies
- Medication training
- QA for MAR and Medications
- Provides quality assurance for ATC and WRH charts
- Attending to client needs or delegation and follow up there of
- Communicates maintenance needs of the equipment and premises to Building Coordinator.
- Assisting the Director in staff and budget reports and requests.
Required Skill, and Abilities:
Obtain Certification for Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) training. MOAB is an in-depth training program that teaches individuals how to recognize, reduce, and manage violent and aggressive behavior. Training is provided.
- MOAB training requires controlled movements, body positioning, and the ability to perform physical holds and restraint techniques.
- The focus of MOAB training is to use techniques that can be effectively applied by employees of varying physical capabilities while minimizing potential harm to both the individual being restrained and the trained themselves.
Physical Requirements:
- Be able to get on the floor rise without assistance
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking
