About Us
FIDELITY MANUFACTURING is part of the backup Power Generation Industry. We design and build backup power packages (to include tanks and enclosures) for large and small health, industrial, and technology-oriented businesses that cannot have a power lapse at any time.
Position Summary: We are looking for an experienced AutoCAD and SolidWorks draftsman with experience in complete system integrations to develop accurate, high-quality customer submittal drawing packages that translate detailed sales quotations into clear, technical documentation. This position reviews customer specifications, compares them against pre-engineered product designs, and produces drawings that communicate configuration, interfaces, compliance details, and installation information. The role plays a critical part in validating scope, preventing design conflicts, and ensuring customer approval prior to full engineering release.
Essential Functions
Daily job responsibilities/functions to include, but not limited to:
- Produce complete customer submittal drawing packages for diesel generator systems, UL-listed steel fuel tanks, aluminum enclosures, and associated electrical sub-systems.
- Develop 3D models and 2D drawings that reflect the exact configuration sold, including dimensions, connections, service clearances, and customer-specific features.
- Compare project requirements against pre-established designs to identify design conflicts or non-standard requirements early in the design process.
- Work with mechanical and electrical engineering teams to confirm sub-system compatibility, including airflow paths, generator mounting, fuel system connections, and electrical clearances.
- Verify alignment with applicable codes (i.e. UL and NFPA) and cross-check customer dimensional, structural, and electrical requirements against product capabilities and internal design standards.
- Ensure submittal drawings are clear, professional, and customer-ready, suitable for approval processes with consultants and engineers.
- Review and update existing models and drawings to improve clarity, reduce production issues, and incorporate engineering changes.
- Collaborate with sales, engineering, and project management teams to interpret technical requirements, resolve design challenges, and ensure alignment with project scope.
- Provide engineering support to other departments of Fidelity Manufacturing in a professional manner.
Equipment/Machinery Used
Computer, copier, and other office equipment.
Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand and/or sit for long periods of time; walk on non-forgiving surfaces such as concrete, wood, and metal (to include metal or fiberglass ramps placed on 30 degree angles); climb stairs, balance, climb, stoop, crouch, and crawl; walk on hilly and uneven ground; use hands to handle and feel; reach with hands; lift push, pull, and/or move more than 20 lbs. without a mechanical aid; and communicate with others. Standard work environment is an engineering office, but often involves work in a manufacturing warehouse atmosphere with extreme temperature changes, loud noises and machinery with moving parts. The work environment could also involve some outside exposure.
Requirements:Qualifications
- Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Drafting and Design Technology, Engineering Technology, Computer-Aided Design (CAD), or equivalent job experience.
- 5+ years of hands-on work experience within a manufacturing environment, ideally with design-to-order or custom fabrication projects.
- Proven background producing 3D models and 2D drawings for complete systems in SolidWorks and AutoCAD. SolidWorks Professional certification is a plus.
- Strong understanding of diesel generator system components (fuel tanks, ventilation, exhaust, structural, and electrical interfaces).
- Strong mechanical aptitude and spatial intuition.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, design-to-order production environment.
- Highly organized and efficient, with a process improvement mindset.
- Comfortable mentoring junior drafters or supporting team development.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook.
- Excellent communication skills – written and verbal.
