About This Position
The Safety Manager is responsible for leading and supporting safety efforts across a family-owned building supply company and truss manufacturing company. This role is both strategic and hands-on, ensuring compliance with OSHA, DOT, and all applicable regulations while actively engaging with employees. The Safety Manager will play a key role in building a strong safety culture, leading training initiatives, and partnering with leadership to continuously improve safety performance.
This role is ideal for someone who values relationships, takes ownership, and is comfortable rolling up their sleeves to support a close-knit team.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety programs across building supply and truss manufacturing operations
- Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and DOT regulations, including fleet safety and driver requirements
- Manage DOT compliance, including driver qualification files, hours of service, vehicle inspections, and audit readiness
- Conduct routine safety audits, jobsite visits, and facility walkthroughs to identify risks and reinforce safe practices
- Lead incident investigations, determine root causes, and implement practical corrective actions
- Serve as a visible, hands-on safety presence at all locations.
- Develop and deliver safety training, including new hire orientation and ongoing employee education
- Assist HR with workers’ compensation claims and support return-to-work efforts
- Maintain accurate safety documentation, reporting, and compliance records
Partner closely with operations and leadership to drive accountability and continuous improvement
Requirements:Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of safety experience in manufacturing, construction, or building materials environments
- Strong knowledge of OSHA standards and DOT regulations (required)
- Experience leading safety training programs and engaging employees at all levels
- Ability to balance administrative responsibilities with hands-on field involvement
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to travel up to 20%
