Supports the day-to-day clinical activities of the practice including patient care, communication, documentation, phlebotomy, coordination of tests and consultations, equipment maintenance, and adherence to safety and compliance protocols.
I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Prepare for patient visits by reviewing schedules, checking for test results, and ensuring exam rooms are stocked and clean.
2. Escort patients to rooms, confirm visit reasons, document interviews, and assist with mobility as needed.
3. Take and record vital signs accurately, alert providers of abnormal findings.
4. Assist providers during exams, anticipate needs, and help maintain schedule flow.
5. Perform clinical procedures as ordered, including but not limited to: EKG, spirometry, immunizations, throat cultures, phlebotomy, and dressing changes.
6. Handle patient communications related to prescriptions, test results, and triage; follow up appropriately per protocol.
7. Document all patient interactions and care activities in the EMR.
8. Schedule and coordinate testing/consultations, providing written and verbal instructions to patients.
9. Maintain and sanitize equipment, monitor inventory, rotate medications, and check temperature logs.
10. Comply with OSHA, HIPAA, and internal policies; support infection control practices.
11. Provide high-quality phlebotomy services and manage specimen handling and transport.
12. Promote positive patient experiences and demonstrate professionalism in all interactions.
13. Collaborate effectively with team members and support a positive, efficient workplace.
14. Display initiative, adaptability, and use resources responsibly.
All responsibilities are essential job functions.
II. Position Qualifications:
License/Certification/Education:
Required:
1. High School diploma or GED
2. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
3. Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license
Preferred:
1. Phlebotomy certification or equivalent experience
Experience/Skills:
Required:
1. Basic clinical skills including vital signs, documentation, and communication
2. Ability to work collaboratively with providers and staff
3. Proficient with EMR systems
Preferred:
1. Six months of experience working as an LPN
2. Experience in outpatient or physician office settings
