About the Role:
The Shipping & Receiving Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the shipping and receiving operations within the organization to ensure efficient, accurate, and timely movement of goods. This role involves coordinating logistics, supervising staff, and maintaining compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. The manager will develop and implement processes to optimize workflow, reduce costs, and improve customer satisfaction. They will also collaborate closely with other departments such as inventory control, procurement, and sales to align shipping and receiving activities with overall business objectives. Ultimately, the Shipping & Receiving Manager ensures that all inbound and outbound shipments are handled with precision and professionalism, supporting the company’s supply chain effectiveness.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in shipping and receiving operations, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Strong knowledge of shipping regulations, documentation, and logistics software systems.
- Proven ability to manage teams and coordinate complex operational workflows.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in logistics or supply chain management (e.g., APICS, CSCMP).
- Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) and transportation management systems (TMS).
- Familiarity with international shipping regulations and customs procedures.
- Demonstrated success in process improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
- Ability to analyze data and generate actionable insights to enhance operational performance.
Responsibilities:
- Manage daily shipping and receiving operations, including scheduling, staffing, and workflow coordination.
- Supervise and train shipping and receiving staff to maintain high performance and adherence to safety standards.
- Ensure accurate documentation and record-keeping for all shipments and receipts, including bills of lading and inventory logs.
- Coordinate with carriers, vendors, and internal departments to resolve shipping issues and optimize delivery schedules.
- Monitor and maintain compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and safety protocols.
- Analyze shipping and receiving processes to identify areas for improvement and implement efficiency-enhancing initiatives.
- Prepare reports on shipping activities, costs, and performance metrics for management review.
- Oversee inventory control procedures to prevent loss, damage, or discrepancies during transit and storage.

The Shipping & Receiving Manager utilizes strong organizational and leadership skills daily to coordinate complex shipping schedules and manage team performance effectively. Communication skills are essential for liaising with carriers, vendors, and internal stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure smooth operations.
