What You Will Do
  • Oversee the design and construction of smaller renovation projects and support larger, multi-million-dollar projects led by A/E consultants, acting as the University's Project Manager and Owner's Agent to ensure projects meet contract drawings, specifications, schedules, and budget goals.
  • Coordinate and guide the work of architect-engineer consultants on major projects, managing project development, design, and construction execution.
  • Work collaboratively with University clients and the Purchasing Department to ensure project requirements are clearly defined and successfully met.
  • Develop programs, cost estimates, and designs for smaller renovation projects in close partnership with project customers.
  • Conduct special studies involving technical investigation and analysis, and recommend solutions to unique planning and design challenges.
  • Provide professional architectural support to building maintenance activities within the scope of professional knowledge and experience.


FLSA: Exempt

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in architecture, campus planning or a related field OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience required for licensure
  • Licensed Architect in compliance with AIA, NCARB and applicable state licensure requirements; must obtain Illinois state specific license within 3 months of hire.
  • 5+ years of experience in architectural project management after licensure

Preferred Qualifications
  • Licensed Architect in the State of Illinois
  • Graduate or professional degree in architecture, campus planning or related field
  • University work experience
  • Experience with the renovation and maintenance of institutional type buildings
  • Experience managing A/E consultants
  • Experience in the design and construction process
  • Experience with design software and project management software
  • Thorough understanding of Building and Life Safety Codes including ADA requirements
