Student - Communications Intern at Wesleyan College – Macon, Georgia

The Communications Intern supports the Office of Communications in creating and sharing digital content that highlights campus life, academic programs, and institutional initiatives at Wesleyan College. This role helps ensure a steady flow of engaging content across the College’s social media platforms and communications channels.

Building on previous experience working with the Communications Department, the Communications Intern will take on expanded responsibilities in content creation, event coverage, and digital storytelling that reflect the Wesleyan student experience.

ResponsibilitiesAssist with creating photo, video, and written content for Wesleyan College’s social media platforms and communications initiatives.

Capture photography and short-form video at pre-approved campus events.

Contribute ideas for student-centered storytelling and social media content.

Assist with basic editing of photos and videos using approved software or platforms.

Organize and submit media files in a timely manner following event coverage.

Work collaboratively with the Communications team and other interns to ensure consistent messaging and brand standards.

Represent Wesleyan College professionally when attending events or interacting with faculty, staff, students, and visitors.

QualificationsPrior experience working with the Wesleyan College Communications Department (such as through the Event Coverage Intern role or other communications-related positions).

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Interest in communications, marketing, media, or a related field.

Familiarity with social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and LinkedIn.

Basic experience with photography, videography, or content creation.

Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.

Ability to work collaboratively with other student interns and Communications staff.

Reliability and professionalism when representing Wesleyan College at campus events.

Skills Students Will GainThrough this role, students will gain hands-on experience in digital storytelling, photography, video creation, and social media content development. Interns will also strengthen skills in visual media editing, event coverage, teamwork, and professional communication while learning how institutional communications teams create and manage content that supports branding, recruitment, and community engagement.
