DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Obtain photographs of the patient based on their chief complaint.
Set up equipment and instruments in the exam room according to scheduled procedure.
Assist the physician with biopsies and surgical procedures such as excisions, injections, and other minor surgeries.
Assist RN with laser and light treatments.
Correctly summarize and document what the physician says during an examination, including actual physical exam information, assessment, and treatment plan.
Provide consent and obtain necessary signatures under the direct supervision of the physician.
Straighten, clean, and replace bedding or supplies after patient visits.
Assist with the handling of specimens for pathology as per policy.
Fill out all pathology and laboratory requisition documents for patients as required by the physician.
Cross over to other areas of clinic and acquaint all patients with the office procedures to which they will be exposed.
Cross over to other areas of clinic and may scribe for the doctors as part of their daily assignments.
Cross over to other areas of clinic and may perform Visual Acuity, Manual Lensometry, Confrontational Visual Fields, Stereo Testing, Evaluation of Motility, Pupillary Function Tests, Color Plates, Applanation Tonometry, Fundus Photography, other tasks specific to physician needs.
Cross over to other areas of clinic and perform administrative duties which will include keeping exposed lenses, mirrors, and prisms clean, maintaining sanitary conditions in diagnostic and procedure rooms, and maintaining par levels of replacement inventory.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to present in a professional manner when counseling patients on cosmetic products and procedures.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Knowledge of electronic medical records, NextGen (preferred).

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma/GED.
1-year customer service experience.
Medical assisting experience (preferred).
1-year eye care, dermatology, or plastic surgery experience (preferred).
Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (preferred).

Preference will be given to applicants with experience in an ophthalmology setting. This is a full-time position with a benefits package. Hourly rate will be determined based on experience and training of the candidate. Review of applications will continue until the position is filled.

POSITION LOCATION: EYE-Q Vision Care practice sites are located in Fresno, Clovis, and Selma.

SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday (may work occasional Saturdays)

PAY RANGE: $21.00 - $32.00 per hour depending on skills, experience, and certifications.
