Cook Job Description

Reports to: Kitchen Manager

Job Overview: The ideal candidate for this position has previous experience, enjoys working in a busy restaurant environment, and is capable of taking direction well and multi-tasking effectively.

Essential Job Functions include, but not limited to:

• Measure and assemble ingredients for menu items
• Prepare foods per menu specifications, allowing for variations to the guests' expectations
• Maintain accurate food inventories
• Properly store food items at appropriate temperatures
• Consistently check quality of ingredients
• Rotate stock items as per established procedures
• Restock kitchen for subsequent shifts
• Operates various kitchen appliances such as blender, oven, grill, or stand mixer
• Ensure that the food prep area and kitchen are cleaned and sanitized at the end of your shift
• Collaborate with kitchen staff regarding stock, presentation, and temperature of food
• Ability to talk, hear, stand for prolonged periods of time, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch
• Ability to sweep and mop floors, clean countertops, lift and carry trash containers and place in outside bin
• Ability to handle high levels of stress
• Regular and reliable attendance
• Ability to operate in a constant state of alertness
• Follows company quality, safety, and environmental guidelines

Qualifications/Experience/Education

• 2+ years' experience as a cook in the restaurant industry
• Ability to read and follow standardized recipes
• Strong knowledge of proper food handling procedures
• Ability to work as part of a team in a busy kitchen environment
• ServeSafe Certification preferred
