About This Position

Position Summary:

The Chief Fundraising Officer is a key member of the executive leadership team, responsible for leading and executing the organization's revenue generation strategy across all income streams, with specific responsibility for building and executing a comprehensive major individual gifts and corporate donations strategy and plan. This is an entrepreneurial role that is external facing.

The Chief Fundraising Officer will oversee the Development Manager (focused on grant writing, events, marketing) and the Communications Coordinator (part-time) (focused on external communications, social media) positions. This position will also oversee a quarter-time Development Specialist (focused on grant writing.)

The Chief Fundraising Officer plays a critical role in ensuring the long-term financial sustainability and impact of the organization, aligning all revenue functions with the nonprofit's mission, vision, and values.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Revenue Leadership
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive, multi-channel revenue strategy to meet and exceed annual and long-term financial goals.
    • Align fundraising and earned revenue efforts with strategic priorities and programmatic goals.
    • Lead the team to drive revenue growth.
  • Fundraising and Development
    • Oversee all fundraising initiatives, including major gifts, corporate gifts, annual giving, grants, events, planned giving, and campaigns.
    • Cultivate and maintain relationships with major donors, corporate sponsors, foundations and other stakeholders.
    • Work closely with the CEO and Board Resource Development Committee to leverage networks and support fundraising efforts.
  • Business Development and Partnerships
    • Identify and grow opportunities for sponsorships and strategic partnerships.
    • Lead contract negotiations and partnership agreements aligned with mission impact and financial sustainability.
  • Team Leadership and Management
    • Build and lead a high-performing, cross-functional revenue team.
    • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and impact.
    • Provide coaching, mentorship, and professional development to fundraising staff.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making
    • Oversee the development and use of dashboards, KPIs, and reporting tools to track performance and inform strategy.
    • Ensure accurate revenue forecasting and budgeting in collaboration with CEO and finance team.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum15 years of progressively responsible experience in fundraising, business development, or revenue strategy, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Demonstrated success in leading diverse revenue streams in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.
  • Proven ability to cultivate major individual donors and close high-impact corporate partnerships in the six- and seven-figure dollar range; strong connections across the Greater Los Angeles region.
  • Strong knowledge of fundraising tools, CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, Raiser's Edge), and analytics platforms.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Rainbow Services.
  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in business, nonprofit management, or related field preferred.
  • State of CA Mandated 40-Hour Domestic Violence Counselor Training (can be completed upon hire)
