JOB SUMMARY

The Transportation Aide - CNA II performs daily transportation services to Short Term Rehab and LTC Residents. The Transportation Aide - CNA II performs a variety of basic resident cares when the resident is being transported for the comfort of the resident. The position demonstrates a high standard of CNA practices while coordinating transportation services with other resident related activities. The Transportation Aide - CNA II work is reflective of CCH mission, vision and values. The CNA II will integrate departmental goals for improvement across the care continuum. The Transportation Aide - CNA II practices within the framework of the Wyoming Nurse Practice Act, Wyoming Department of Health and CMS guidelines.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • CNA II skills may include but are not limited to the following:
    • Oxygen therapy
    • Sterile Technique
    • Wound care
    • Oropharyngeal suctioning
    • Tracheostomy care for patients with well-established tracheostomy
    • Assisting with peripheral IV fluids (“Assisting with peripheral IVs refers to the set-up of equipment and discontinuing IVs. It does not include venipuncture or hanging IVs”)
    • Gastrostomy and percutaneous endoscopic gastronomy (P.E.G.) feeding tubes in a stable site
  • Performs daily transportation and courier services for residents and the facility.
  • Provides service excellence to all customers utilizing AIDET, Excellence Every Day and Standards of Excellence.
  • Observes residents and reports unusual conditions and/or responses to Unit Manager of respective unit.
  • Fills Helios portable oxygen machines utilizing appropriate PPE.
  • Transports specimens and/or documents within the organization.
  • Demonstrates flexibility, positive interpersonal relations in a high volume, high traffic, and fast paced work environment.
  • Maintains a clean and safe environment.
  • Performs routine cleaning tasks including the cleaning and disinfection of transportation vehicles.
  • Demonstrates efficient time management and prioritization skills.
  • Practices fiscal responsibility and accountability.
  • Completes van competency and transports residents as needed.
  • May be required to work on nursing units, within the CNA II scope, according to distribution of staff and residents.
  • Complies with safe driving practices.
  • Complies with the hospital’s Corporate Compliance Program including, but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, laws and regulations, and CCH policies and procedures.
  • Must be free from governmental sanctions involving health care and/or financial practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education
    • Graduate of a state or board approved training program.
  • License
    • Current unencumbered Wyoming CNA II License and must register with Wyoming Department of Health CNA Abuse Registry.
    • Valid, unrestricted driver’s license.
      • Must be at least 21 years old and meet Campbell County Health (CCH) insurance and driver eligibility requirements, including a DMV license check per policy.
  • Certifications required
    • See Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification Policy and Certifications/Education Requirements Policy.
  • Experience
    • Experience in long term care or skilled nursing preferred. Past CNA experience preferred.
