Controlled Combustion is a diverse and stable 40-year-old full service commercial heating company comprised of over 150 employees is looking to add a Junior Estimator to its team. The company is seeking candidates that are looking for a workplace in which to grow and prosper.

The Junior Estimator will be responsible for creating and managing estimates for projects. The ability to multitask, prioritize, and communicate effectively will be crucial in this role.

Responsibilities

• Analyzing requirement documents, blueprints and project plans to gain a thorough understanding of the project
• Determining what factors of production will influence the cost of a service or product
• Preparing material estimates and cost estimates for the product or service
• Creating labor estimates for any project
• Developing and maintaining relationships with company vendors and contractors
• Managing bids from vendors and contractors
• Using bid data to prepare detailed a cost analysis
• Compiling and recording actual costs
• Accurately estimate plan/spec and design/build boiler systems using computer estimating systems and other related software
• Maintain estimating logs and unit costs for all projects
• Establish and maintain vendor relationships
• Perform site surveys and attend pre-bid walkthroughs
• Interact with the sales and project management teams to ensure all projects are performed under budget and according to plans and specifications

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift

• Weekends as needed

Experience:

• Construction estimating: 3 years (Required)
• HVAC: 3 years (Required)

Ability to Commute:

• Bronx, NY 10458 (Required)

Ability to Relocate:

• Bronx, NY 10458: Relocate before starting work (Required)

Work Location: In person

• Three (3) years of estimating experience in the HVAC industry with a proven track record is required
• Ability to read and comprehend blueprints and other construction documents
• Ability to assess piping requirements (size, distance, etc.)
• Knowledge of different types of boilers systems and their components
• Thorough understanding of related trades for the purposes of coordinating various project estimates
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
• Proficiency in mathematics, statistics and data analysis
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
• Report writing and strategic planning skills
• Familiarity with analyzing requirement data to develop material and cost estimates for large projects
• Expertise with analytic tools, such as spreadsheets and database managers
• Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills
• Exceptional time management skills
