The Graduate Nurse is responsible for providing professional nursing care under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse for assigned patients. The Graduate Nurse assists the Registered Staff Nurse in collecting, implementing, reporting, and documenting patient data. The Graduate Nurse assists with the reinforcement of patient education and the preparation for patient discharge. The Graduate Nurse is a contributing member of the multidisciplinary Health Care Team and must be able to communicate the needs of the Patient/Significant others to all disciplines involved in the patient's hospitalization. The Graduate Nurse is a recent graduate of an accredited nursing program and who is waiting to take the NCLEX exam. Witham and the Indiana Nurse Practice Act does not recognize "graduate nurse" as a license to practice nursing. The graduate nurse is an unlicensed caregiver.

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Must pass nursing boards within 45 days or within two attempts.
• Must be able to read, write, and complete computations of math. Must possess organizational skills. Must be able to perform CPR and is certified.
• Experience in an acute care facility; this includes clinical rotations.
