About This Position

Summary
Responsible for handling personnel related matters in conjunction with the HR Director, including but not limited to benefits, new hire orientation, discipline, employment reporting, recruitment, hiring/termination processes, etc. Responsible for planning, organizing and directing the County Risk Control Program and ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety (OSHA) guidelines.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Resources, Accounting and/or a related field preferred; Associate's Degree with significant experience required.
• Two (2) to Three (3) years of combined work experience, education, and training in human resources, risk management or related field preferred.
• Experience working with City, County and/or State Government preferred.
• Strong writing and oral communication skills.
• Strong organizational and computer skills, including ability to set up and maintain program monitoring systems as well as being proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to communicate effectively in private and public settings with large and small groups of people.
• Ability to understand and communicate in English oral and written. Fluency in Spanish desirable, but not required.
• Ability to work independent of daily supervision and to exercise discretionary judgement and thinking.
• Valid NM Driver's License. No DWI conviction within the past three (3) years.
• Ability to perform all essential duties as listed below.
• Ability to perform the essential duties in the working conditions described below.
• Ability to work with the equipment, tools and materials listed below.
• Must comply with safety guidelines and policies of the County.
Benefits Curry County contributes 20.16% and employee contributes 6.29% each pay period into the Public Employees Retirement Association (PERA) Curry County pays 80% of medical premiums. Dental Vision and Disability Insurance offered as well. Curry County provides a $50,000 life insurance policy for all employees. Dependent and Spouse Life Insurance Benefits available. 12.5 paid Holidays per year. 8 hours Personal Day per year. 80 hours Paid Vacation per year. 96 hours Paid Sick Leave per year.
