GENERAL SUMMARY
-
The Mental Health Program Supervisor provides evidenced-based treatment and evaluation to children and families. Serves as a resource to mental health staff regarding skill demonstration, promotion of knowledge, and communication with leadership. Responsible for aspects of staff scheduling, oversight of direct reports, and provision of evaluation, program/process improvement, engagement, and innovation. Reports to Manager, Mental Health Therapy.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provision of Clinical Care
-
Conducts mental health evaluations, participates in treatment planning including safety, and provides evidenced based therapies to children with mental health conditions and, potentially, co-occurring acute or chronic illness, trauma, or disability.

Ensures comprehensive assessment and recommended treatment plan is submitted for reimbursement to third party insurance payer sources based on established guidelines.

Obtains outcome measures, when necessary, using psychometric tools; shares data on patient progress with collaborating physicians and tracks clinical trends.

Acts as an advocate and mental health educator to the child’s primary support group, to include the child’s primary care and specialty doctor, parental unit, educational system, legal system, and other parties invested in child’s care.

Oversight of Clinical Staff

Ensures that staff follow charting procedures and regulatory requirements, and that all staff assigned act as a cohesive team.

Assists in orientation and training of clinicians new to the mental health program on work expectations, our commitment to professionalism, and adherence to the mission of CHKD’s Mental Health Service Line.

Conducts chart audits in accordance with DMAS and Medicaid regulations, when needed.

Generates program systems and processes to improve quality of service, employee, and patient satisfaction.

Oversees clinicians new to the mental health program to ensure accurate diagnoses, mission driven treatment and safety plans, and fidelity to evidence based clinical modalities.

Collaborates with department leadership to problem solve staff concerns, support staff development, and provide feedback regarding clinical professional growth as needed.

Assists management with scheduling and coverage as needed.

Provides conflict resolution with patients, families, providers, and outside agencies.

Responds to all Vocera and Behavior Events and supporting clinical needs of the patient/family during event.

Provides clinical supervision as a board-approved supervisor to team members as necessary; signs off on all clinical documentation by supervisees.

May have direct reports and perform employee evaluations.

Participates in the disciplinary process with department leadership as directed.

May function in an on-call capacity as necessary to meet the needs of the organization.

Travel to offsite locations may be required.

Performs other duties as assigned.

LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
-
Required Licenses and/or Certifications
- Current Virginia license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
- CPR certification required and/or CPR training received within 45 days from hire

Preferred Licenses and/or Certifications
- Certification and advanced training in any of the following evidenced-based modalities preferred: Parent Child Interaction Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Based Therapy for Anorexia Nervosa, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
-
Required Education and Experience
- Graduate of an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Mental Health, or a related field required.

Preferred Education and Experience
- Two years of post-license related work experience preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Experience with implementing evidence-based treatments with children and families and Telemedicine based interventions/assessment required.
- Exceptional interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills necessary.
- Ability to work as a multidisciplinary team member required.
- Increased Security Clearance Required for Job Roles in Children’s Pavilion: FBI fingerprinting, criminal background check, and Child Protective Services registry search.
