About This Position
Clinical Nurse Educator - Family Medicine

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
-
- Collaborates effectively with the Associate Director of Ambulatory Services, Practice Manager and Director of Education to identify educational priorities. Plans and coordinates programs (in collaboration with the clinical experts) that will meet the identified needs.
- Responsible for staff development and competency in application of the clinical tasks and nursing process and performance of critical thinking and clinical skills for Ambulatory LNAs, MAs, LPNs and RNs.
- Develops and maintains, in collaboration with others, an orientation program of the newly hired LNA, MA, LPN and RN staff.
- Performs needs assessment, develops, designs, implements and evaluates evidence based educational materials utilizing principle of instruction design for adult learners.
- Engages regularly with the interprofessional team in huddles and team meetings to facilitate assessment and identification of educational needs.
- Facilitates ongoing education initiatives including LNA, MA, LPN, RN orientation, preceptor education and other organizational learning initiatives.
- Involved in development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of organization competencies and regulatory practice requirements.
- Facilitates and maintains an individualized educational plan with staff in the department. Assists the staff to identify their needs, while fostering an environment that encourages lifelong learning.
- Promotes understanding of best practices in education among clinical staff, clinical supervisors/managers and other leaders to empower these individuals to become education champions and engage clinical staff in supporting each other’s learning and clinical practice.
- Provides an appropriate climate for learning that facilitates the development of clinical competence in the clinical staff.
- Identifies learning needs and develops plans and processes to provide ongoing support for staff proficiency in use of the EMR.
- Maintains a consistent and frequent presence in the clinical areas in order to identify educational and/or training needs.
- Maintains clinical skills in order to provide direct patient care in learning situations, role model responses to clinical challenges and provide “just in time” learning when observing a need while making rounds.
- Works effectively and collaboratively with other departments to facilitate the work required to support staff development.
- Supports and engages staff in department and organization quality initiates.
- Consults for regional and system initiatives as needed.
- Performs other duties as require or assigned to meet organizational needs.
COMPENSATION:
Minimum pay: $42.78
Maximum pay: $60.45
