PT Social Media Intern

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Job Functions:

• Promote the College and programs by assisting in maintaining and updating the San Jacinto College Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn accounts. Develop visually appealing social media graphics and write corresponding captions according to best practices for each social media platform. Ensure all designs and captions are aligned with the College's brand guidelines.
• Collaborates with Coordinator, Digital Media on social media strategy and content creation.
• Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and mentions on social media platforms.
• Monitor trends in social media, research current trends and best practices, and apply knowledge gained to the San Jacinto College social media sites.
• Create and post content based on campus events, including attending for photos and/or video.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially strong grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
• Demonstrated understanding of social media platforms and best practices.
• Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Must possess excellent online research skills.
• Must demonstrate creativity, engagement, and the ability to work within a team.
• Must have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Demonstrates an understanding of basic design principles.

Education and Experience:

Required Education:

Must be a recent graduate or current college student pursuing a degree in marketing, communications, digital media, graphic design, or a related field.

Required Experience:

• Beginner- to intermediate-level proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud programs (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).

Preferred Experience:

• Familiarity with AP Style.
