Who You Are

The Contract Scientist, Bioanalytical Development participate in the development and implementation of bioanalytical methods for AAV gene therapy products spanning preclinical and clinical stages, which includes the development, optimization, qualification, and execution of assays in support of non-clinical and clinical development of AAV-based products as well as transferring them to CROs for further validation.

How You Contribute

  • Independently implement, develop, and qualify bioanalytical assays including but not limited to qPCR, dPCR, ELISA, and MSD under the direction of a project leader.
  • Conduct non-clinical and clinical sample analysis as directed.
  • Create data tables and perform data analysis using appropriate software (such as Excel, QuantStudio, SoftMax, Prism, etc.).
  • Solves difficult technical issues and works to build alignment around a complex situation as necessary.
  • May assist assay transfer and/or development at external contract research organizations (CROs) and/or other labs for qualifications/validations in support of nonclinical and/or clinical studies.
  • Responsible for documentation of all project work in appropriate electronic and/or paper-based laboratory systems.
  • Responsible for data review.
  • May assist with drafting study methods, plans, and reports as needed for use in regulatory filings.
  • Collaborate with other scientists and may present data internally at meetings.
  • Responsible for reagent sourcing, receipt, storage, inventory and preparation as directed.
  • Responsible for maintenance of laboratory instrumentations as directed.
  • Maintenance of updated safety, compliance and SOP training.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team-oriented setting with good communication skills.

What You Bring to the Team

Education & Experience

  • Degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, or relevant discipline plus relevant working experience (years) in a pharmaceutical/biotechnology or CRO laboratory setting preferred:
    • Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years’ work experience
    • Master’s degree 4+ years’ work experience
    • PhD degree or equivalent with 2+ years’ work experience

Competencies

  • Hands-on experience in bioanalytical method development, particularly in qPCR methods highly preferred, although additional experience in LBA and immunogenicity assays beneficial.
  • Must be highly organized with attention to detail.
  • Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills .
  • Highly adaptable to changes and fast-paced setting.
  • Positive attitude with a solutions-based approach to challenges.
  • Prior experience in managing assay transfer preferred.
  • Knowledge of GLP, GCLP or similar practices preferred.

Working Conditions

  • Primarily a laboratory setting and at a desk
  • May involve standing, sitting, and using laboratory equipment for extended periods.
  • Some lifting of equipment or materials may be required.
  • Work may involve exposure to chemicals or biological materials; proper handling and disposal procedures must be followed.
