Job Summary:
This position is located at the JCC in West Orange, a satellite sports medicine clinic of Cooperman Barnabas. The clinic specializes in treatment of orthopedics, sports medicine and concussion.
Administers therapy treatments to patients following standard accepted therapy practice and policies and procedures of CORC. Develops appropriate discharge plans with patient and/or family and staff. Develops appropriate home therapy program and instructs patients and families in proper implementation; makes recommendations for therapeutic/adaptive equipment as indicated and instructs patients and families in their safe and effective use. Documents appropriate charges and necessary information on department billing sheet on a daily basis. Documents treatment provided in patient medical record in a timely manner. Maintains patient medical record as per accepted therapy practice and policies/procedures of CORC. Evaluates/re-evaluates appropriate parameters on each patient using standard tests and procedures; records findings in the medical record and communicates same to referring physician and other members of the health care team as indicated in accordance with departmental and ACC policies and procedures.
Formulates/implements plan of treatment/goals based on evaluation findings and in consultation with referring physician; records in medical record according to departmental/ACC policies/procedures and scope of practice.
Observes and documents in the medical record the patient's treatment, response to treatment, progress and other changes; alters the treatment plan and goals as indicated in consultation with referring physician, and discusses changes regularly with members of the health care team. Supervises Therapy Assistants. Supervises students appropriately; tailors supervision to student s needs, provides appropriate feedback, clarifies expectations, completes required evaluations and regularly confers with student coordinator.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy
- CPR certification
- NJ PT license
Preferred:
- At least 2-5 years of clinical experience in orthopedics
- OCS or SCS (or desire to obtain)
- Passion and experience in treating concussion
- Experience with overhead athletes, golfers or runners
