PetCure Oncology is looking for an empathetic and compassionate Clinical Referral Coordinator to join our team as part of the Thrive Pet Healthcare community.
At PetCure, a Thrive Pet Healthcare partner, you will have the support, tools, and resources to elevate your skills. PetCure Oncology commits unconditionally to delivering industry-leading cancer care to pets and unwavering support to the families that love them.
About You
As a Clinical Referral Coordinator, you'll play an important role in pets' lives by providing comprehensive care throughout their cancer journey. In this remote role, you'll coordinate the oncology care journey -- communicating with clinics about referrals, scheduling oncology appointments, reviewing and uploading medical records, and guiding owners through an often emotional process with empathy.
Experience & Skills Requirements:
  • Must have clinical veterinary experience (technician, assistant or client service representative); Specialty/Oncology experience strongly preferred but not required
  • Must have availability to work remotely during the weekdays
  • Demonstrated empathy in client interactions
  • Reliable, high-speed internet connection
  • Experience with ARIA treatment planning software preferrable
Role Responsibilities:
  • Support veterinarians, technicians and other clinical staff to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
  • Obtain and organize medical records from referring clinics prior to treatment
  • Explain treatment plans and typical oncology journey for canine and feline patients, guiding owners through emotional conversations with clarity and compassion
  • Exercise sound judgement and lead with empathy in every interaction
  • Collaborate with in-clinic teams to ensure all documentation is complete before and after patient visits
  • Obtain relevant health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts.
  • Build and maintain positive, professional relationships with referring veterinary offices.
  • Manage time effectively and prioritize work in a fast-paced, remote environment
  • Be willing to guide, mentor, and support fellow team members.
About PetCure
PetCure Oncology was created in 2014 by the founders of Accelitech, the largest privately-held network of stereotactic radiation (SRS/SRT) centers in the human cancer market, in response to a growing need for this technology in veterinary cancer care.
While SRS/SRT is widely available for treating human cancers, the veterinary field has a limited supply of advanced technology and services for treating the growing number of pets with cancer. Radiation equipment is outdated, start-up costs are prohibitive, and there is a significant shortage of board-certified veterinary radiation oncologists in the U.S.
As a result, pet owners have had few options. What's more, traditional radiation therapy can require dozens of daily visits (and anesthetic events) over a six-week period, and can cause significant side effects for pets. It can also present a serious logistical challenge for pet owners.
As SRS/SRT begins to emerge in veterinary cancer care, early reports indicate good outcomes and fewer side effects than traditional radiation therapy, and pet owners appreciate the significant reduction in daily visits to three or fewer.
