Gersh Autism Academy is seeking a dynamic professional who can effectively manage curriculum development, professional training, and instructional support to improve educational outcomes for students with disabilities. This position is located at our West Hempstead school.
The Curriculum & Instruction Trainer is a multifaceted role responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing special education curriculum while coordinating professional development and training for school staff. This position supports the educational needs of students with disabilities and enhances instructional practices across the organization.
Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development, Oversight, and Implementation- Develop and update special education curriculum and instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of special education programs and make recommendations for improvement.
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure a cohesive educational experience for all students.
- Train educational staff on approved curricula, including but not limited to:
- Unique Learning
- Edmark
- Reading Milestones
- Autism Helper
- Into Reading
- Go Math
- Read 180 / Math 180
- All Things Algebra
- CK-12 Science
- Assess training needs and develop professional development programs for school staff.
- Provide support and training on:
- PowerSchool including entering goals, report cards, and progress marks
- Curriculum-based assessments including ABLLS, AFLS, and Brigance
- Report writing including 45-day reviews and annual reviews
- Classroom management and classroom set-up
- Program book development and implementation
- Generalized classroom instruction
- Organize and conduct workshops and in-service training sessions.
- Attend and facilitate New Teacher Mentor meetings.
- Organize, facilitate, and participate in company-wide professional development opportunities.
- Conduct individual and small group trainings with educational staff across all school sites.
- Develop training materials and instructional resources.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and adjust as needed.
- Stay current with educational research and integrate best practices into training initiatives.
- Master’s degree or credential in Special Education, Educational Leadership, School Psychology, or a related field.
- Valid state certification in Special Education.
- Minimum of five years of experience in special education teaching, administration, and professional development.
- Strong knowledge of special education instruction, curriculum development, and implementation.
- Ability to travel to all school locations as needed.

Compensation range includes base and KRA bonus eligibility
The pay range for this role is:
75,000 - 77,000 USD per year(West Hempstead)
