Position PurposeThe Quality Technician supports quality-related initiatives and ensures the integrity of testing, data, processes, and systems, with a strong focus on ISO/IEC 17025 compliance. This role gathers and analyzes critical quality data, helps maintain the quality management system, and collaborates across teams to perform root cause and risk analyses to ensure ongoing compliance with ISO and quality requirements.
Key ResponsibilitiesReview, analyze, and chart monthly quality control (QC) data
Identify and implement improvements to QC and quality-related processes and tools using validation methodologies
Validate laboratory instrumentation testing and reporting
Conduct root cause and risk analyses (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone, FMEA)
Validate chemicals and critical supplies prior to laboratory release
Prepare and present data analysis results to management
Assist with troubleshooting validated instrumentation and processes
Perform other duties as assigned
Coursework in Chemistry, Biology, or a related field, or equivalent experience in a laboratory and/or quality environment
Minimum of 2–3 years of relevant laboratory, quality, or similar experience
Experience applying basic mathematics and statistics to data analysis
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word, with the ability to use software as a primary job function
Strong ability to compile, aggregate, analyze, and interpret data and present conclusions clearly
Ability to read and understand technical documentation (e.g., ASTM methods) and write or revise standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to collaborate cross-functionally to identify and implement solutions
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
Highly organized, self-directed, and able to prioritize workload effectively
Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025:2017 preferred
This position is primarily performed indoors in a conventional office and laboratory environment, including an office or cubicle workstation. Noise levels are generally low.
Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this position, the employee must be able to:
Work at a workstation and/or laboratory bench for extended periods, typically up to 8 hours per day
Occasionally lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds
Regularly hear, see, and communicate verbally
Occasionally stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, and climb as needed throughout the workday, as needed throughout the workday.
