Position Purpose

The Quality Technician supports quality-related initiatives and ensures the integrity of testing, data, processes, and systems, with a strong focus on ISO/IEC 17025 compliance. This role gathers and analyzes critical quality data, helps maintain the quality management system, and collaborates across teams to perform root cause and risk analyses to ensure ongoing compliance with ISO and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review, analyze, and chart monthly quality control (QC) data

  • Identify and implement improvements to QC and quality-related processes and tools using validation methodologies

  • Validate laboratory instrumentation testing and reporting

  • Conduct root cause and risk analyses (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone, FMEA)

  • Validate chemicals and critical supplies prior to laboratory release

  • Prepare and present data analysis results to management

  • Assist with troubleshooting validated instrumentation and processes

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education and Experience
  • Coursework in Chemistry, Biology, or a related field, or equivalent experience in a laboratory and/or quality environment

  • Minimum of 2–3 years of relevant laboratory, quality, or similar experience

  • Experience applying basic mathematics and statistics to data analysis

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word, with the ability to use software as a primary job function

  • Strong ability to compile, aggregate, analyze, and interpret data and present conclusions clearly

  • Ability to read and understand technical documentation (e.g., ASTM methods) and write or revise standard operating procedures (SOPs)

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally to identify and implement solutions

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Highly organized, self-directed, and able to prioritize workload effectively

  • Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025:2017 preferred

Work Conditions

This position is primarily performed indoors in a conventional office and laboratory environment, including an office or cubicle workstation. Noise levels are generally low.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this position, the employee must be able to:

  • Work at a workstation and/or laboratory bench for extended periods, typically up to 8 hours per day

  • Occasionally lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds

  • Regularly hear, see, and communicate verbally

  • Occasionally stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, and climb as needed throughout the workday, as needed throughout the workday.
